If I, as a teacher, responded to a less-than-compliant, and upset student by even lightly putting my hand on them I would be fired and charged that day. Police, if we are going to have them at all, need to be able to handle this kind of situation without resorting to violence. Period.

Then we need to stop hiring conservatives as police. Normal (non-conservative) people don’t behave this way, cops or not.

Cops have an impossible job. Everyone has a gun, so it would be stupid of them to assume he wasn’t armed, which is why they ask you to keep your window rolled down. All he had to do was keep his window rolled down for the traffic stop, which is not an unreasonable request, but it was one he deliberately disobeyed. Instead, he acted out, so they treated him like a delinquent. There are actual victims of police overreach that will never know publicity like this. People who did everything asked of them and still suffered. Tyreek acted like a petulant child “how dare they give ME a speeding ticket!?” so they treated him like one. This is a nothing burger.

I have no problem at all with rich pieces of shit getting treated like the scumbags they are.

Yup. There’s no need to argue at all. Just stop the guy, give them the ticket and move on. If a guy is too angry to deal with, so be it. It’s not like talking louder or dragging him out is going to fix whatever happened 5 seconds ago that made the cop stop the driver. Just stop being racist pieces of shit cops, that’s all we ask for.

Related to this incident. You know what I do when I get pulled over? Shut my car off and roll the window down. If it’s at night I’ll also turn on the dome light.

This guy keeps his loud ass sports car running, has dark tint on the windows, and won’t put his window down at all so the cops can see him, or what he’s doing. He was being an asshole the entire stop.

He handed the cop all the paperwork he needed for the stop 10 second into the video and Hill told the cop to right him a ticket before he rolled up his window. So the cops knew exactly what Hill wanted, which was his ticket so he could go on with his day.

We can see the video. The literal second they open his unlocked door he tells them he’s getting out. They drag him out anyways. Then they dog pile him and he lets them do whatever they want to him. After he’s cuffed they control him with one officer and nothing more severe than a tap on his shoulder.

They absolutely escalated the situation beyond where it needed to be.

Youre right. You can see the video. He’s told four or five times to get out of the car before it was opened by the cop. Then Hill says he’s getting out, but doesn’t actually move to get out. Until he’s quasi pulled out, but the cops didn’t give a whole lot of time on that part. Saying you’re going to do something, but not actually doing it is something I even run into a lot as an emt. We just never escalate the situation with any force unless there isn’t another option and the person is in a situation where they legally have to go to the hospital. Cops are usually much less patient, but they deal with a different portion of the public a lot of times.

Bottom line is that the cops may have been assholes or not, but Hill wasn’t doing anything to try and keep the stop calm or civil. He was being a dick. Just like he’s been a dick all his life, right back to punching and choking his pregnant girlfriend back in college and all the way on up. Then having the gull to tell some Mexican cops that they pulled him over because he was black and in a nice car, like playing the race card is supposed to work against a hispanic dude.

I’m not going to defend Hill’s actions as correct, but if someone is an asshole do the police get to do anything they want?

Hard to justify him getting pulled onto the ground, knelt on, and handcuffed.

If he didn’t want to open the window (and I’ve already heard everything about how maybe they couldn’t see inside so it was a safety hazard - fine) - doesn’t opening the door solve the entire problem? The door was open. Shouldn’t that have been all the escalation of this situation that was required?

Thought exercise: where is the line of justifiable behavior? If they shot him is that justified? If not, then there must be a line somewhere.

But I can tell you it’s not a subjective thing, and the courts have ruled on things like this. Everyone has rights, even “Lil assholes” like Hill. I don’t care for him at all as a person. He might be a shitty guy, but everyone gets the same rights.

The line has always been simple. If you feel you’re in the right, comply then, file charges later. Also, don’t be a dumbass. If you get pulled over for wreckers driving and speeding, don’t leave your loud ass car running, the window up, refuse to roll it down, refuse to open the door, and be a dick. If you act like you’re being dangerous, you’re going to be treated like you could be dangerous.

The guy rolled up his window when the cops were talking to him. Any normal person would have spent the night in jail if they did the same, and then they would be paying to get their car out of impound, and then maybe their license would have been suspended too.

I’m not saying what they did is right, i’m saying cops in this country are assholes. That’s what we expect them to be. That’s what the policies ask them to be. That’s what their bosses want. It’s what the elected officials who set the laws and guidelines they must follow want. It’s what most very old white people want.

We need real change, we just won’t see it in our lifetime. We’d sooner see another dictator trying to conquer the world and committing genocidal acts than do anything to address the police problem here. Nowadays cops are just legalized bullies, just the way the ownership wants.

Hill was being a punk and rolled his window up on them. One of them roid raged out and yoinked him out of the car. I think they figured out who he was (probably thought he was a drug dealer based on him being black and the nice sports car) and gave him his traffic tickets and let him go.

He did not comply. I watched the video and you’re full of shit that he complied about stepping out of the vehicle. He also kept his car running instead of shutting the engine off.

What legal command didn’t he comply with to get put in handcuffs? Is he legally required to turn his car off? Did the officers ask him to turn his car off?

He hands the officer his paperwork at 0:10 closes his window at 0:26 in the video and opens the car window at 0:43 his door is opened at 0:56 he’s on the ground at 1:02. It took the police 62 second to conduct the stop assess that he’s a threat and take him to the ground. I know he’s fast on the field but come on lol

I feel really sorry for this guy

What kind of unhinged parents call their kid Tyreek?
