Going to buy a bottle of Blue Curacao, and learn some delicious blue cocktails.

One that sounds amazing to me is Electric Iced Tea. It’s basically a long island, but replacing triple sec with the blue Curacao and cola with sprite or something.

That’s a good start, but it would be even better to think of some ‘woke’ themed twist on it that makes it into a Blue Wave. I’m drawing a blank on what that twist would be, but I’m sure someone who’s better at cocktails and/or wordplay than me could think of something really good. My first thought was replacing white rum with a diverse mix of rum tones, but that would kind mess up the blue colour.

Oh, also, if you want to really go hard with this, blue curacao, orange vodka (or rum, or liqueur), white creme de cacao, with heavy whipping cream.

Mix the blue curacao 2/3 to 1/3 with the orange liquor of your choice. Preferably shaken with ice. Fill a shot glass 2/3, or a tumbler 3/4. Now take the creme de cacao and mix it with the heavy cream separately. Then carefully pour that in the glass over the back of a spoon. It’ll taste like a dreamsicle but look like cum in a glass of mouthwash.

      Well…

I get what you’re saying, I really doi also thinknits a really bad idea.

I’ve been seeing people banishing “the cazies” for like 3 decades now from Internet fora and I’ve been saying from the start that this will only breed bigger and bladder crazies. When with “us”, we can ground them and avoid them going full retard. When we banish them, they will join together in some other place where they can make the rules themselves, breeding much worse crazies. The same goes IRL.

I’ve been seeing exactly this I’ve rthe past decades, crazies joining together and becoming a much bigger, such worse problem to handle.

Again, ibget your point but I’d rather have a crazy on a figurative leash where they can be controlled and stopped from iharming themselves or others, than crazies running wild

That’s the weird thing. There’s millions of people who would never hurt anybody up close and personal, but happy to keep hurting people far away by their choices. The same disconnect often applies to the negative consequences that hit them.

In those cases, if they’re family, and you’re used to seeing them, you can find yourself having superficially friendly interactions, they will be genuinely happy to see you, etc… And they will vote for death camps without a single pang of conscience because it seems like the normal thing they’ve always done.

I don’t think they’re the majority, but they’re certainly numerous enough to be the primary enablers of a fascist takeover.

        The ‘white moderate’

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action”; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.”

Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

Tell them get their racist fucking asses out of your home. Tell them to fuck off and die mad. Quit enabling them. Look, I’m no fan of conservatives, but you have to recognize that someone molesting children is very very different from someone holding conservative politics.

Do you really expect me to go through life shouting at and refusing to speak with anyone with politics to the right of mine? Life is full of compromises and picking your battles. I would absolutely refuse to be in the same room with a pedophile relative, because that’s a big deal worth fighting over. My aunt who thinks ivermectin works? Not worth the trouble.

Most people, even repeat Trump voters, are pretty tuned out of politics. So I don’t feel like it’s my solemn duty to grill everyone over their voting patterns, assume their vote defines them as a person, and only associate with the purest of heart.

I’m not talking about them. I’m talking about you needing to hold them accountable. In that, there is zero difference.

Do you really expect me to go through life shouting at and refusing to speak with anyone with politics to the right of mine?

I expect you to hold people accountable; especially family members. That actually starts with speaking with them and not avoiding the politics because that makes you both feel uncomfortable. However, when they decide that they are racist then, yeah, tell them to grow up or fuck off and die. Quit enabling them.

Most people, even repeat Trump voters, are pretty tuned out of politics.

Then tune them the fuck in. Quit letting the skate by playing nice with them at holiday dinners. Fuck holiday dinners; holding them accountable is far more important.

My MAGA relatives are some of the worst human beings I’ve met. Hateful, loud, dumb bigots that seem unable to act like a decent human being for more than a few minutes at a time. I’ve heard the shit they’ve let slip out and they meant (and mean) every word.

There are degrees of shitbaggery. There are people that can be redeemed without too much pain.

Nobody is an angel: everyone has harmful views and does bad things – it’s just a question quantity and quality. As much as it sucks the reality is if we set the bar too high we’re going to spend life alone … and risk being a hypocrite as well.

So we tolerate peoples failings as we hope they tolerate ours. We grow and redeem ourselves by learning of our flaws and blind spots from other people.

That being said there’s a line where its not worth it. Everyone has to decide where that is for themselves.

Our families invite process is fairly simple. If you can’t last family time during holiday without talking politics, you aren’t invited. I think that’s a fairly healthy ask. I think only one person was excluded from family planning/gathering due to it, but thankfully the feeling was mutual because they couldn’t isolate their political side from their actual personality and as such didn’t want to be in an environment where they couldn’t talk politics anyway.

Different scenario so therefore different rules. It may surprise some people on Lemmy but, not everyone that has a different political orientation is molesting children or some other extremity. Shocker I know.

There’s a time and a place for politics for either side. Family time isn’t one. We don’t want to be associated with people who can’t respect that. Regardless of political orientation.

For context on their claim(which I had edited prior to their comment as it didn’t really matter to the post): My original reply stated that just because someone is slightly right doesn’t mean they molest kids. It had no place in the comment as it doesn’t matter the reason: Politics have zero place at family time.

It’s this playing nice with family members that allows them to continue comfortably being racists and/or pedophiles. Quit enabling them.

This is the most important time. When the fuck else are you going to do it? Jesus fucking christ, hold your family accountable for not being awful people. After Election Day 2024 I completely cut my republican father out of my life. He never was maga, but he was celebrating trimp’s win (ironically by listening to a Woodie Guthrie cd I got him). I did not speak to him for almost a year and a half, then in April I found out he was going to group therapy. I am unsure of the exact nature of the GT but one of his friend’s that is in the GT said it is to redeem them.

We still do not have the close relationship that we used to have, and I doubt we ever will again.

The crazy thing is he used to be a long haired hippie fighting for freedoms and protecting the Vietnam war.

If I’m lucky they’ll finally shut the fuck up about “Somalians”* and talk about football instead, even though I don’t really care about football.

*(I understand “Somalians” isn’t a what they’re called, but the racists in my family never bothered to learn that.)

That’s my experience. They just shut the fuck and don’t want to talk about it when they lose, but when they were winning (just barely) it was all they could ever speak about.

They could leak it right now.

They don’t even have to have the actual files in hand. Just share what they’ve seen with their top secret clearance. One press conference.

They’d be heroes to every non-billionaire in the USA, and Democrats would hold office for the next 40 years uninterrupted.

      I wonder why they don’t? Hmmm. It’s a puzzler
