Idk, I live in one of those “progressive hellscape / nanny state” places they’re always on about … every kid is guaranteed access to school provided by the county / state.

Some students are in a walk” jurisdiction, they can only cross a single road with a crosswalk or are outside of it and MUST be offered transportation to school.

There is no “you’re too far away”, kids walk even in elementary school, and busses are provided for everyone else.

The American Civil War had about 1.6 million casualties, both sides.

A war that started with line battles and flintlock rifles and ended with Gatling guns and repeating rifles. The war that took the world from Napoleonic tactics to basically what ww1 was.

A war that had battles with over 50,000 dead in a single day.
