What is a U.S. health insurance's "concierge program"? - eviltoast

I’m getting phone calls from my health insurance company, first from a “registered nurse” with no information in the voicemail other than a call-back number (seems like it could be a scam, but I need to verify the number, so far people are saying the number is legit), and now I have a second phone call where the voicemail mentions they are calling from the insurance company’s “concierge program”.

Mostly I want to know if I can ignore these calls without consequence, or if I have to return them, and if so what should I expect?

Likely it’s a 3rd party that works with your insurance company to offer some bs where you pay more and can talk to a nurse practitioner on the phone whenever you want.

I got one of these calls. I looked on their site snd they had like 30 nurse practitioners and 1 or 2 actual doctors. I bet 99.99999% of the time you get connected to a NP and not a MD.

And what is wrong with quick access to an NP who is clearly supervised by doctors? They get significant training and often have extensive experience in healthcare before they took the NP.

If I’m gonna pay out the ass for extra healthcare concierge programs, I better be connected to fucking MDs (or DOs). I already get stuck with PAs/NPs at my normal doctors a lot. Why would I pay more for the same?
