I mean, we all know how the lemmy devs are. So yeah, not surprised. We might need an alternative after all.

Well, what can you even ask other than what join-lemmy.org already asks?
Just select the first instance that shows up then.
Basically the join-lemmy.org list but it selects one instance randomly depending on user’s input/preferences?
Then with the parameters already set: https://join-lemmy.org/instances?topic=all_topics&language=en&scroll=true
The thing is, they most likely will register at that instance you give them. So the burden of changing the instance once it gets too big is yours. Let’s say sopuli.xyz becomes too big at some point, you’d have to manually change all your recommendations to sopuli.xyz or have the admins there disable registrations, and at that point the user most likely won’t care and go back. The official join lemmy website is the better option in the long run.
There is no karma counter builtin, but it is also not something hard to implement. But I remember an chromium/firefox extension displaying it. “Karma” in Lemmy can be calculated manually though.
Basically what https://join-lemmy.org/ does by default
I mean, select “Join a Server”, select “General”, then select “English”. Explore one instance that is listed.
The newbies should at least know what a instance is, don’t you agree?
I think redirecting to https://join-lemmy.org/ is the best option.
when does it end
This is just awesome. Though it is weird because they went after that open source tf2 remake a few years ago, maybe the team will continue now.
Good points. I actually prefer writing software with music, but not when reading books. It’s weird.
I can definitely relate to your last point. When I hear people talking, I often find myself subconciously trying to piece together what they’re saying, which distracts me from focusing on my reading. More speech where I can’t comprehend what people are talking about seems to be less distracting than a few speaking.
I guess the feature was already merged in one of the past Lemmy versions then?
Or you can be an instance admin. Iirc In the next lemmy version (1.0.0), mods will also be able to view votes in their communities.
Thunder and Jerboa atm.
Yeah, seems like something to do with your account. I can see the posts with and without my .ml account.
When I check that community in lemmy.ml, I can see them though? Might be something to do with federation delays. You should be able to see the posts now.
Welcome to Lemmy btw. Hope you enjoy your stay.
I guarantee you, they’ll go Bluesky if Twitter gets banned.
