What makes “Big…” better than “Raiders of the Lost Ark” is that 'Raiders" saves the magic for the last act.
“Big” starts with magic. Anything is possible from the second the movie starts.
Jack Burton is such a great character - brave (because he’s dumb) and more concerned about his truck than the super-powered ninja gods around him lol… Meanwhile Wang’s competent and knows what he’s getting into, but will do it to save his bride… such a great contrast.
Fun fact: John Carpenter and Kurt Russell agreed that he was the sidekick who thought he was he hero. That’s why when he swaggers into a scene he ends up running out.
takes a hell of a guy to embrace that and emote the buffoon Jack Burton shows himself to be. so good.
I recently rewatched Pacific Rim while high and had a great time. It hit all the notes that I always hope MCU movies will but never do.
Shame about that sequel though, that thing straight up sucked.
