I have another comment in this thread. I said that 9/11 gave us the Patriot Act and that this attack will probably lead to something worse.

[off topic]
One of their favorite tactics is to wait until someone is dead and then distort [or flat out lie] about that person’s opinions during life.
Ray Bradbury was mad that there were no space missions during the Obama years. After he died the Right tried to play off that Bradbury was a life long conservative who saw Obama as a traitor.
No.
This is a blip on the radar. Gamestop didn’t destroy the stock markets and this isn’t going to do anything but get people riled up.
9/11/2001 gave us the Patriot Act. You can bet that Trump will push through a law letting any CEOs body guards shoot at will.
The Left had two chances to get Bernie Sanders nominated. In 2020 he did better in the caucus states [where the DNC would be able to exert more control of the outcome]. The Left failed both times. Maybe we should stop looking at the Dems and get our act together. FYI I contributed to Bernie both cycles.
Sure it is, but I feel you
So, this whole thing has been about your feelings?
Whatever.
It’s from the 1990s but still relevant.
“War And Anti-War” by Alvin Toffler. Even before 9/11 he predicted that there’d be a major war against a non-government entity like ISIS. He used the term ‘anti-war’ to mean a war completely different from the old style of conflict.
Hmmmm…
Mass shooters stop targeting schools and start going after the 0.01%?
That’s one way to get gun control.
Look at it realistically.
She’s not living a better life style than Frank Sinatra or Micheal Jackson did in their heyday.
If we can split the vote the Left has a chance of moving ahead.
I’ve been hoping for a war between the MAGoos and the old guard RNC for almost a decade.
Even the DNC?
I knew it was a fantasy when I wrote it. I mean, obviously they pay more for lawyers than anything else.
Just amazing how far they can stretch the law without it snapping back on them.
I once read a novel from the 1970s. There were a couple of thugs who were arguing over who’d had more STIs. It was a simpler, happier time.
I hadn’t heard that algorithmic health care decisions had been ruled illegal. If the company were doing that, couldn’t they be considered a criminal enterprise?
And she’s not on the list of the top richest people in the world.
If you look at her life style, she’s not doing much better than Mick Jagger or Michael Jackson were when they were at the top.
On the other hand, look at the salaries of executives. CEOs who used to make 50 times what their employees made are a thing of the distant past.
Trump wants to be able to take away the tax free status of groups that ‘support terrorism’
Here’s the main reason I worry about people taking direct action.
So, this isn’t a thread about direct action?
Because gunning someone down seems pretty direct to me.
Think about this. Public sex clubs like ‘Plato’s Retreat’ and gay bath houses were mainstream in the 1970s. Bette Midler got her start performing at a gay bath house. There were porn theaters catering to couples all over the place. AIDS came along and threw everything back fifty years.
Here’s the thing. The French and Russian governments were unprepared for massive civil unrest.
Here in America we have companies like Blackwater [or whatever they are calling themselves this week] Staffed by ex-CIA hotshots with access to a massive data base and lots and lots of money.
I’d bet anything that they are already planning to capitalize on this attack.
Which is why people need to vote in every election.
AOC and Omar didn’t magically appear. They did old fashioned political work.
