CNN identified more than 100 US citizen children, from newborns to teenagers, who have been left stranded without parents because of immigration actions this year, according to a review of verified crowdfunding campaigns, public records and interviews with families, friends, immigration attorneys and other advocates.
These cases have unfolded as the Trump administration has abandoned the “humane enforcement” of immigration laws when deporting mothers and fathers who entered the country illegally, according to policy documents. Since President Donald Trump took office in January, American children across the country have ended up in the care of relatives, neighbors, friends, co-workers and even strangers. Their parents were picked up during raids on workplaces ranging from farms to meatpacking plants, coming out of check-ins with Immigration and Customs Enforcement or dropping their kids off at school.
In some cases, ICE appears to have violated protections that still remain in official policies by failing to allow undocumented parents time to find an appropriate caregiver or to make travel plans for their children as they are taken into custody and deported, CNN found. Unlike immigrant children, American children of immigrants do not fall within ICE’s jurisdiction and are not tracked by the agency.

Ugh, CNN:

No, they probably entered the country legally but then overstayed their visa. Just like the majority of undocumented immigrants. FFS. What kind of weird narrative line are they trying not to cross?
The one that causes Trump to sue them and/or get the FCC to take them off the air.
All part of the reign of terror.
That’s fascism for you.
Across the country, US-born children like Febe and Angelo have become collateral damage in the Trump administration’s unprecedented crackdown on undocumented immigrants.
That wording suggests that cruelty to the children is unintentional. I don’t believe it is.
Just more kids for Trump to hide in his Epstein files
Breaks my fucking heart man…
If the administration didn’t intend this then they’re incompetent because it’s obvious it would happen.
If they did intend this the they’re cruel.
I know which one I’d prefer since at least mistakes can be rectified but let’s be honest, it’s both.
It’s pretty much both. It’s probably not exactly intended, they just don’t fucking care.
I think Stephen Miller cares. Just the other way.
The cruelty is the point. Damn that’s fucked up.
