When my grandpa used to visit every Tuesday, he would join us for dinner, then some coffee after dinner. We would sit on the couch and chat a bit and at some point grandpa would fall asleep. The rest of us just went about our evening, watching some TV, playing a game, just chatting or whatever. After an hour or so, he would wake up, slap his knee, tell us it was a great evening and head home.
It was actually kind of sweet how that old man would fall asleep. That’s why you don’t fucking elect grandpa to run the country.
Back when I was in vocational school, I used to visit grandma often on the way home. We’d eat, play cards and drink coffee, then she’ll start watching bold and the beautiful on tv and fall asleep on rocking chair while I’d take a nap on sofa. I miss those times

That’s a person who is inherently bad, but resisting it, and ine day, they may stop resisting. I prefer people who are inherently good, and dont need fear motivation to behave properly in society.

Technically that would be a defense if the god in question was actually as powerful as they say they are or that they are nessisarily good. There is always a possibility that Gods exist but are not on the hook to tell the truth and their goals do not align with humans.
A lying god telling the kids they have magic powers well beyond them and proving it like an uncle playing a dumb trick on the three year olds at a family reunion is a possibility. Maybe God exists and is just kind of an ass?
