Log into your SSA account now, get your current statement, and save it somewhere secure. It probably won’t make any difference since this administration will almost certainly completely gut the SS program. But at least this way on the slim chance that there is some sort of recompense down the road, you’ll have an official document available showing you what you were supposed to get at retirement.

      Ahh, fuck.

I’m a federal employee. I’ve also had to download my most recent earnings & leave statements (something I usually ignore) and take a snapshot of my current leave totals…just in case DOGE fucks it all up.

Add to this a record of any student loans you have or have ever had. You can log in to studentaid.gov and export a full record of your previous loans, your payments and balance over time, and any forgiveness you’ve received.

As Musk and his goons fucks with the Department of Education, it’s unlikely that your student loan balance will go “poof.” But records of your payments or any forgiveness you received just might.

And really, individuals should now archive local records of any interactions they’ve had with the federal government. The federal government can no longer be considered a reliable steward of records.

Oh look, the billionaire savior complex strikes again. Musk’s DOGE initiative isn’t “efficiency”—it’s a hostile takeover of public infrastructure, dressed in Silicon Valley’s favorite buzzwords. Dismantling Social Security and gutting the CFPB? Classic move for someone who thinks regulations are just speed bumps on the road to monopolistic utopia.

And partnering with Visa? How revolutionary. Let’s replace accountability with a payment processor that’s definitely never exploited consumers. Meanwhile, “X” becomes the perfect propaganda funnel—centralized, unmoderated, and conveniently aligned with Elon’s latest whim.

But sure, let’s trust the guy who throws tantrums over unionizing workers to “streamline” agencies protecting vulnerable citizens. What’s next, privatizing oxygen? Wake me when the lawsuits bankrupt his ego.

I mean the thing is, even when we felt like they were there, did they even do anything beneficial for the common folk? No government really cares about its people anymore. It’s just a way for people elected to line up their pockets.

If I’m too stupid to see the daily benefit to me, then you must have the sufficient intelligence to see it I suppose. Which also puts the burden of listing those benefits on you. Sure the governments do stuff like funding infrastructure etc. But if you could at least read and think on a high school level, you would have understood that what I’m saying is not about the government doing literally nothing. I’m saying for the amount of money they collect, the things they achieve or put in service of you is negligible.

If the DogeBags end up fucking with nearly everyone’s Social Security…they have not really thought this through.

This country is armed to the teeth, and if some of those armed, and crazy, people realize that YOU are one of the people directly responsible for fucking with their lifeline (we are not talking about some faceless, byzantine bureaucracy here, we are talking about idiot fElon, his DogeBags, and their asinine “move fast and break things” mentality), well…let’s just say it might end very badly.

All of these people, including the incel DogeBags, probably have a lot of security detail. But that security has to work 100% of the time. The crazies only need to be successful once…

If they thought they were hurting when systems operated properly and checks were paid, banking worked properly under things like the FDIC and we had one of the best economies in quite a long time…buckle up.

These guys are out to break government. That will be absolutely make people absolutely miserable. If they thought “Bidenflation” was excruciating, they ain’t seen nothing yet.

For what it’s worth, people are usually only inclined to take action after they themselves have been hurt so badly they have no other options left. I wouldn’t expect to see any political assassinations until our grandparents are losing their homes, food gets so expensive people cannot eat, censorship has taken away comforts like porn, and unemployment is incredibly high

Once all of that happens and still no action is taken by anyone, then yeah I’ll agree most gun nuts only collect firearms to LARP getting to kill minorities.

I’d imagine if some redcap went off their rocker and did something extreme against donvict, fElon, or one of their lackeys that martial law (or marshal law if you use donvict’s spelling) would be declared and guns would be getting confiscated at quite a rapid clip. At least from people suspected of not being redcap enough.

Those deemed sufficiently redcap might be given some extra perks - just enough so that they are not wanting to do radical things against donvict. They would probably be pointed at out-groups and given the hint - or explicit messaging - that they won’t be punished for anything they do against out-groups.

Oh, I’m sure quite a few that are glued to their Outrage Industrial Complex will do that, but all it takes is just a few to realize that donvict put fElon and his DogeBags in there to fuck up their social security (or Medicare. or Medicaid) payments.

Even if only a tiny, tiny fraction of them realize just exactly who is to blame for such a scenario…again, it’s not some faceless organization that would have done this; they have names.

How long until Americans realize, and start to flee to Canada and Mexico. I’d advice those countries to prepare for millions of US refugees. Don’t forget to include a bible and a gun in every care package to make them feel at home. Trump takes care of the immigration problem by making the US the worst place to be.

As one of the blue states, we’re not getting directly hit yet. Our leaders are strong and I’m a confident we can hold out, like a beacon of hope, for the next four years. We can rebuild. We have the technology. We can make it better than it was. Better, stronger, faster.

In theory we could even be better off, not paying in all that money that less developed states depend on, k though taxes never go down. I’m sure just like last time, they’ll add a twist to the tax cuts for the wealthy to screw over high cost of living states.

Unless and until you hear news about actual US troops landing in Canada, Greenland, or Gaza, don’t give Traitorapist Trump any attention at all for that crap. I don’t agree. I agree with him trying to get your attention, but I think it’s because he doesn’t want your attention at the stuff he’s actually doing. Plastic straws? Rly? Better double check whatever else he’s doing. He’s constantly distracting everyone with some weird bs to hide his malpractice. No one cares about some simple executive orders when he’s threatening to invade Canada, everyone will write about some stupid placric straws instead of some boring stuff which actually is harmful AF.

I didn’t know the UK was the only European country where people aren’t forced into conversion therapy. Also, I didn’t know the UK was the only country where an American can legally live. Should I be reporting all my American gay expat friends to the government now?

You clearly didn’t do your research when moving to Europe, and clearly have no clue on how other European countries are. The UK is not the most gay friendly of all European countries and finding work as an American is easy in many EU countries and can even have some massive tax benifits (20% tax reduction in NL for example). Many EU countries have fluent English speakers and loads of jobs where only English is no issue. While in the UK it’s going pretty fucked up since they left the EU. But at least their food can be of as poor quality as US food, so aclimating might be easier. Just be careful when getting sick, free healthcare could be a massive culture shock.

There are agencies which help with expats finding a job and housing. Also schools for kids etc. I know it exists here in NL, but also in Norway, Germany and probably much more countries.

There are many job offers for expats. Many companies are scouting. Again, through expat agencies you can get easier access to these job offers, but not exclusively.

Why didn’t you say you’re a UK citizen? So you’re not a US citizen and you moved back to your country of origin? I can understand that, although I still would have checked other countries first since the current state of the UK isn’t that attractive right now.

As a UK citizen I think it’s even easier to live in an EU country then a US citizen.

Why didn’t you say you’re a UK citizen?

Because informing you isn’t his fucking job?

Here’s a trick you can use the next time you talk to somebody:

“Hey, why did you pick the UK of all places? What do you mean it’s the only place you can live legally?”

Thank you. I have decades of experience in audio video production and post production with a very impressive CV which hasn’t helped much yet, sadly.

For me, six weeks to get a passport because I have citizenship rights. For my daughter (and wife still in the U.S.), it involves me finding a job that pays more than £28,000 a year.

I think so. As far as I understand, I just have to be in the country and prove I make at least that much a year or have that much in savings. But fully remote jobs are even harder to get.

Yeah I have a buddy doing remote tv editing gigs who is not in NY or CA. It has been very difficult since the easy money dried up.

          That’s half our plans right?

Resist and throw monkey wrenches as long as possible then gtfo and “overstay” your visa at the last moment. Obviously this is more difficult for some of us and some should plan an exit sooner, everyone needs to focus on their own threat model and plan accordingly.

Be an accomplice, not an ally.

Some people are fleeing. The RCMP has been detaining a lot of people who have fled or are helping to move people out of the US.

The IRS is no threat to him personally, since the Republicans have ensured that it doesn’t have the funding to go after the BIG tax dodgers like himself.

As for the DHS, ICE SHOULD be a threat to him since he broke visa rules and as such is technically in the country illegally, but that would require for the law to apply to politically connected billionaires…

Hope he doesn’t. I’m afraid they will use the IRS to go after the poor and the shredded remains of the middle class and ignore anyone actually committing tax fraud.

That’s the fun/infuriating part: due to a lack of funding, that’s already the case no matter who’s in charge of the IRS!

It’s much more expensive for the IRS to audit the big fish and, knowing that, the GOP have made sure that they’re underfunded enough that their billionaire overlords like Musk can cheat on their taxes with impunity and never get audited.

During a news conference Friday, President Trump said that Americans’ social security would remain undisturbed by DOGE. “Social Security will not be touched, it will only be strengthened,” he said.

you mean you’re going to uncap contributions and put a lower ceiling on what the most wealthy receive from it, while increasing benefits all around for everyone else??!?!?!?!!? wutuwaitinfor?

      “will not be touched”

      “will be strengthened”

How do you do the latter without doing the former? 🤔

Well, first you need to be senile and profoundly moronic. Then you just say things you think people want to hear.
