Good. Dont come here. This country and the people are so messed up. They need a wake up call.

I used to think I might become a snowbird, but since 2016 I found the US visibly declined every year, and that accelerated sharpy during COVID and of course far more so now. Needless to say I’m not going in the short term, and I’m not hopeful the country will still exist in the long term.

I’d prefer a retirement destination with a statistically insignificant chance of being murdered or kidnapped. Costa Rica is much higher on my list than Mexico.

florida, was a favorite destination for canadian snowbirds, but the state is sinking into the ocean, plus desantis wouldnt do anything about hurricane related infastructure/insurance. and then theres the overwhelming amount of invasive species that florida has, and many people base thier “Exotic pets operation there” for a reason. if florida dint have climate that resembles central and south america subtropica/tropical climate, it will be another run of the mill texas, lousiania or alabama.

Was actually gonna plan a visit for 2027. Obviously won’t now.

Much of this 2025 number is even people who probably bought their trip sometime last year (as I guess, on average, people plan their trips at least 6 months ahead?) I wonder what the impact will be during the end of 2025 and next year.

If the world doesn’t have a major depression there will not be an impact on the areas you wish there were. They will use it to destroy blue states. They’ve checkmated us. We need our allies to understand what is happening and react already.

I do what I can for blue states and liberal values and institutions - but I’m absolutely not travelling to a country ruled by idiots who hate me and might throw me in a cell for no reason. As if I’d want to stay in their version of USA permanently anyway…

Yup, gonna have some trips around Southeast and East Asia as well as Australia and NZ… probably Canada one day as well.

Especially Chile has some incredible landscapes I’d love to experience as well

      It’s not that bad.

The US is big and very diverse. There’s something for everyone here, and you can do your part to make change.
