I JUST got inked Sunday. Very nice place and his inks were on display. I just don’t know anything about them. I’m sure I’m good.
I do have to go back for session #2 still.

There’s an important note at the bottom of that article:

“The recall announcement noted that Sierra Stain is no longer in business. While the company lists a remaining email address, it did not immediately respond to a comment request from Ars on the bacteria found in their inks.

The FDA recommends that consumers be vigilant about the quality and safety of tattoo supplies and techniques. It also encourages tattoo artists to work in professional environments that can reduce the risk of contamination.”

Stay safe. Talk to your artists about their materials. Feel comfortable in your decision. These are your responsibilities.

I’m not discounting the issues with oversight, but these issues are arguably with the entire cosmetic industry as a whole, not just the tattoo industry.

This article is very informative, but given that the recall was tagged to one supplier that was already out of business, I do consider it misleading.

For piercings, APP is fantastic resource & well regarded.

I honestly cannot say the same about ATP, but they did release this statement about ink ingredients 5 months ago.

Take it for what’s it’s worth. Not an expert or an artist, just planning a few more pieces myself.
