Can we get a "block all non-english/non-default language communities" button? - eviltoast

I’m glad the people from Danelund and Germandy are doing their thing on Lemmy but I don’t know what the fuck any of it means and it makes for a lot of block button tapping. A toggle would be very nice.

I know I can view subscribed and there’s ways around this but I want an “all” feed I can read all of, with fewer taps.

Sync is great, thanks for everything!

Unfortunately, a lot of clients and users either don’t have the ability, or just don’t bother, setting the post language at all, so it’s “undefined”. If you deselect undefined as a language, youll see vastly fewer posts from all languages

Unfortunately this removes anything marked as undefined, which also includes most of the English content. I’ve stuck to just blocking communities or whole instances where I can.

Lemmy could really use a tag system for communities, so you can opt out of things you don’t want.

You can select multiple options. Just leave “undefined” selected. You’ll still get content in other languages marked undefined but it will at least filter out content with language set.

I recently learned this, and changed mine to English only. I still see non-English communities in All. I suspect it’s up to community owners to set the language of their community and a lot don’t?

Community owners and also on an individual post level (if the community is set to allow “undefined”). There’s not a whole lot that can be done, client side, if the language is not properly set on the server.

Make sure you left undefined selected as well as English or you’ll miss any content not set.
