It’s a darth vader cosplay fetish. They wanna be a cool bad guy.
Except just the shitty parts, minus the cool costume, powers, or voice. Then they try to convince themselves it’s working with seven laughing-too-hard emojis.

It doesn’t absolve. If people are acting like it does, then they’re wrong and it still is true without absolving. It just points out that people voting for trump is overwhelmingly the problem.
And also, the Democrats ran their failed diet republican strategy. But if they fucked up twice as bad as they did, there’s sill no reason to vote trump, and that remains the main issue.
The non-magas have to lock arms and stand together until ranked choice, no electoral college, and no citizens united. That’s the front door to the future.

I want to metaphorically fuck your literal asshole.
Did you just accidentally almost coin the term “magalomaniac”?
Biden leaves Afghanistan, the Taliban takes over.
Biden leaves the white house, the Taliban takes over.
cough cough news media
I wonder how many alien civilizations also died slap-fighting each other as their planet burned down.
Cheffery Cooke
This is true but boy it’s the anti-headline.
The far right refused to tackle the underlying issues and vowed to make them all worse. This is overwhelmingly the biggest issue. It becomes a far bigger problem than the underlying issues.
But it’s good to be aware of what the meme points out, too. Been going on too long.
It starts with fury. Everything is beyond messed up over there.
Add in: anger funnels focus. Tunnel vision. It almost feels morally wrong to think of another thing. Anger helps you in a physical fight, so this makes sense. Also, ordering lunch while your neighbor’s house burns down is kinda dickish.
Add in: first past the post voting. This is the big clincher. It forces two party systems mathematically, and most people understandably haven’t heard why.
Factoring in the information in that video, you realize your choice really is Harris or Trump. Third choices get transformed into a vote for the candidate you dislike the most. So you take the best option.
Take away the knowledge of first past the post, and you have every reason to think that third parties will work if you all just had some spine and imagination, god damnit. You resolve not to let yourself be one of the ones who sat by silently while horrible things happen!
Cast protest vote thinking it makes you one of the people who actually helped, not realizing first past the post transforms that vote into a vote for trump, and everybody keeps fighting instead of watching that video and letting the facts it points out inform what they do.
This not smrt take.
The resistance infiltrating the enemy base in disguise can get a lot of work done. Especially if it’s long term and you don’t even need to sneak around.
Even just a low level functionary who’s not a nazi or a terrible person makes my time dealing with a government agency better. There’s not an automatic moral imperative to bounce.
The slightest effort at extrapolation makes this whole idea monumentally short-sighted.
That’s an outdated phrase by about 48 hours.
Like a nazi cunt would want to do.
At a certain point I have to admit that I’m the asshole here for continuing to be on the side of Team Humanity.
Garland has a bigtime reputation for being the strict, no-nonsense, stick to the procedure guy. The dorky accountant whose spreadsheet fussiness took down the Al Capones of the world. There was real reason to think he was dotting his i’s and crossing his t’s to make his case airtight, building legal precedent from the ground up by taking down lowly jan 6th terrorists nobody really cared about. It would have been a phenomenal strategy.
Then: nope.
America doesn’t really have landslides.
It was a ratio of 68 to 73, with low voter turnout. 100% not a landslide. Anything less than a ratio of…I don’t know, 50 to 70? doesn’t really deserve the term. And that’s generous.
This feels generally correct yet wrong in some way I can’t put my finger on. Curious if anyone thinks they know what it is.
