Oh, but you’re forgetting something: the cruelty is the point. They don’t actually care if the policy is effective. They want to, and enjoy, hurting groups that they don’t like.
Even the most stalwart xenophobe would feel conflicted when you force them to weigh raping murdering hash slinging slashers being free on the streets against not punishing innocent subhumans.

Normally I’m all for a mandatory /s tag, but the fact that you somehow missed that the Hash Slinging Slasher comment was analogous satire is beyond my comprehension.
