    Saw isn’t a leftist. He’s an anarchist.

Even before the partisans, when we see him in TCW… he’s fighting to restore a monarchy and to oust the Seps. By the time we see him in Andor, he’s letting his hate and sense of betrayal carry him from standing for anything to standing against the empire. Aside from espousing authoritarian tactics, we know almost nothing about his actual politics and by the time we see him in rogue one; he’s the insurgent militia equivalent of a boomer shouting at clouds.

That depends entirely on how you define anarchism.

His philosophy isn’t “freedom” or even really a philosophy. If he hadn’t died on Jedha, he’d probably have continued fighting the new republic because he suffers from the no-true-scottsman fallacy.

He just wants to fuck up the empire and has no plans beyond that. Shitty writing, I know. He’s used as the dubious ally that goes too far to make the “hero’s” like Luthen look “good”, and his sole purpose in andor is to give Luthen a sounding board for luthen’s enlightened centrist non-ideals.

Luthen nor Mon Mothma are leftists either. They’re neoliberal capitalists.
