White House officials did not endorse or object to the planned ouster of Gen. Valery Zaluzhny, saying it’s President Volodymyr Zelensky’s choice to make.
AFAIK he wanted Zaluzhny to resign on his own accord, perhaps so it doesn’t look like Zelensky fired him. Allegedly Zaluzhny told Zelensky to fuck off, stating that if he wanted to dismiss him he’ll have to do it. Zelensky, it appears, does not want to give the order himself to avoid bad PR.
Seems like he already tried to fire him and Zaluzhny refused, so we’ll see what happens next.
