This is why I sign union-drive support sheets. You can also support unions by buying their merch to raise awareness and contribute to worker funds. I now have four styles of tshirts:

      1. Solid or blended plain tshirt
      2. Band or artist design
      3. Podcasts that I like
      4. Unions that I support

No corporate logos on my person other than my jeans, and you aren’t getting close enough to see or read that. And my socks, under my shoes, because they’re super cushiony.

Too bad the overwhelming majority of people just can’t be bothered. If, for instance, everyone all at once decided to stop using or paying for Comcast and refused to do so, then Comcast would fold pretty quickly and there’d be literally nothing they could do about it. They might sell it all to a collections agency, but that would be the end of it all.

But since boycotts are nearly impossible to impose successfully unless you can convince a critical mass to give up whatever inconvenience the boycott is for. Not to mention contrarians and anyone who disagrees with the reason for said boycott, who may even double down out of spite or principle. But by and large, most people just don’t care.

That said, must of what’s left on Reddit are niche communities, bots, and the kind of people who also keep Facebook up and running. Lemmy, meanwhile, has a marginally higher bar for entry - the requirement of doing more than 5 minutes of research - it seems so far to weed out most of the idiots who ruined the Internet anyway.

Seriously, remember what it was like in the 90s and 00s? So much less stupid and corporate greed clogging up the place.
