Back in the day I loved seeing what people would do on that other site, /r/photoshopbattles. Lots of good shops from there rattling around in my memes folder.

It was a trend for a while. There were a couple blogs I can’t even remember the name of at this point that did great PS work. the sub you mention really only had like 3 or 4 solid people and everyone else using MS paint.

It reminds me a lot of the rage comics area. I wasn’t really a fan of rage comics, but when they took off, people actually made them. They had an idea, they fired up Photoshop and they made a thing and therefore there was some sort of effort put into it. Later on, there were apps, and everyone could just slap together their own rafe comics and flood the market, and 99% was just absolute garbage.

I actually like rage comics (they are still around btw). Having them be accessible isn’t a bad thing. If they aren’t good it is because the maker wasn’t particularly good. Not that they were accessible.

It’s ok but iirc they use capsaicin concentrate which just adds artificial heat without flavor. These days I avoid that stuff. The best hot sauces I’ve had were all made from Moruga Scorpion peppers. They pack a lot of heat but it doesn’t hit you as harshly as with other strains. Goes especially well with fruity or smokey spices. My favorite chili pepper by a long shot.

My favorite scorpion sauce is Tobacco’s. Unlike their others, I don’t get a strong overwhelming vinegar sensation from it.

My favorite overall sauce is Melinda’s ghost pepper sauce. I tried their scorpion sauce but it didn’t taste significantly different enough nor feel any hotter, but it was more expensive to get, so I stick with their ghost pepper sauce.

Melinda’s sauces are fantastic. Generally speaking I mostly ditched vinegar bases for fruity sauces, spicy ketchup and chutneys. Oh and a completely different one that I can highly recommend is this one:

Captain Taco Bell. One 4th meal too many changed him. Into the hero we never knew we didn’t want.
