    Timeline:

Jan 20 - Federal Aviation Administration Director fired.

Jan. 21 - Air Traffic Controller hiring frozen

Jan. 22 - Aviation Safety Advisory Committee disbanded

Jan. 28 - Buyout/retirement demand sent to existing employees

Jan. 29 - first American mid-air collision in 16 years

By golly, Trump is actually correct. Someone with severe intellectual disabilities did fuck us over.

It’s mind boggling anyone would even try to dismantle the FAA- they’re one of the most boring organizations out there and their #1 concern is safety. There’s even tons of money to be made while worrying about safety, so it is so odd to do this. Trying to reduce air traffic controllers is an insane idea in general- without them everyone’s flying blind. It’s gonna take decades to figure out all the damage this moron has done just like with Reagan

        1. Drastically reduce their budget
        2. Fire the most experienced people
        3. Watch it all go to hell. More accidents and close calls.
        4. Blame gov workers and democrats
        5. ???
        6. Profit!

And it’s one of the most useful government offices if you’re a billionaire who travels by plane everywhere. Plebs who have to drive everywhere are a lot less affected by overworked, overstressed, underpaid ATCs than guys like him.

As an autistic person (and no, we don’t throw Nazi Salutes as stimming…) I honest to fucking god am so numbed by this guy’s bullshit that it is kinda incredible.

All I could think of is how the mentally disabled were the first victims of the holocaust in WW2. Starting in 1939 around the time of the invasion of Poland.

The accident is 100% on Elon Musk and Trump. They fired the FAA safety officials and never replaced them, in addition to cutting massive amounts of funding and personnel that made an accident like this inevitable.

    Fuck him. Fuck him HARD.

I just want to point out that

Trump announced sweeping personnel changes, including a hiring freeze. But aviation experts said Trump had done little that could have precipitated the crash between a commercial jet from Wichita, Kansas, and a military Black Hawk helicopter. There was simply too little time – less than 10 days after Trump was sworn in – for any of his broadly worded executive orders to have had an effect, experts said.

      https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/1/31/did-trumps-firing-of-aviation-officials-increase-likelihood-of-dc-crash

He is still an asshole, but the firing had, apparently, as much to do with the crash as DAI programms: nothing at all.

…or understaffed air traffic control where controllers have to do 2 jobs at once. Then you have a helicopter pilot who was not following ATC instructions.

I agree with trumps sentiment. Old, fat, stupid, senile people should not be in positions that need to make critical decisions.

If you dont have a net worth that’s 6 figures minimum, or come from a nice family with a background of being an american “patriot” or otherwise having come from a not-shithole country. then you’re a useless eater.

“Useless eaters” are a term with a specific history of explicit oppression of the disabled (usually ablism is merely implicit).

I have literally heard strikingly similar arguments to the “useless eaters” rhetoric in refernece to everything from housing, jobs, and even f’ing gadgets.

have heard maniacs say “we gotta have a depopulation if we’re gonna be able to continue affording our quality of life”

Nepotism(hiring unqualified friends and family) is far more rampant and way more destructive than DEI policies ever could be. DEI policies may help unqualified people gain low level positions, but with nepotism it’s usually high level positions.

History is unkind to Nero, who was really not that bad in comparison to a shitload of emperors that came before and since. I’m not saying Nero was good, I’m saying his reputation of being one of the worst isn’t even close. I hope history is as unkind to Trump.

Yup that is how this presidency will be explained. America had the potential to be the greatest country in the world, but it just always remains out of reach, and that fucker you have in charge will irreparable do even more damage.

I feel sorry for what you (not you in particular) voted for (or what was stolen by the tech bros).

Hope you make it through this.

And once again, Trump controlled the conversation, and all the actual evidence is out there window for most people.

It would be awesome if there was an unspoken “don’t feed the troll” understanding among journalists, influencers, mods, forum commenters, everyone. When Trump says something outrageously stupid, just… briefly acknowledge it, and then ignore it and proceed as usual. Like he doesn’t exist.

    That’s a narcissist’s worst fear.

Sure, he’d bounce around in the conservative echo chamber, but at least he wouldn’t pull more people in.

And yet in another post you’re arguing for people not trying to take control of the narrative and tie it to his firing if aviation safety advisors.

You just want everyone to be silent on Trump, except Trump.

It would be awesome if every time he did something, that he was properly challenged.

Oh and those alt-right echo chambers started before Trump and them growing was what enabled him. Ignore them at your own peril.

I seems like any time any post is made about anything Trump says, someone has to tell us all that it’s a distraction from what’s really going on.

As if Trump is even capable of that level of deception. Yes, Trump lies all the time… to get his way when he isn’t getting it. Notice how he wasn’t lying about the fascism.
