I’m still salty and grumpy about that stupid $200 fine (I’ll have spent $400 on parking fines this year) and trying not to beat myself up for being uniquely absent-minded or inattentive.

But I am proud of my little accomplishment: getting JUST under an hour at terminal parking at thr airport. I managed to squeeze in getting lost on the way in, having to turn around twice, a Macca’s order and eating it and a goodbye photo… then literally running back and rushing out and finding an empty exit lane. Two minutes longer and I’ll have been slugged another $17 (not even $14 like the website says!)

    take that universe

Now to grab some rice from MKS (to store where exactly I don’t know), go home and do so many chores.

Just spoke to my mate that I haven’t spoken to in 12 years.

It was exactly how it was when we were best mates. Nothing’s changed ❤️

I just sold something on eBay that had been up so long I’d forgotten I even had the listing there. I had to go and retrieve it from my op shop bags, it’s lucky I haven’t gotten around to dropping them off yet!

We did the Box Hill miniature rail today. It’s a good little spot with a nice track. From what I’ve heard it’s not as busy as the Diamond Creek railway so the lines are much better

I bought a box of chiko rolls on Friday. They go good in the air fryer. Better than expected

I remember their ad in the fish n chip shop; with a leather bikini girl, on a harleyesque chopper, holding the chicko roll like a cock she was about to suck. Imma say 1987. Even then as a kid I remember thinking why would you advertise a product like that.

        Ah yes, the

        Chiko Chick

She was replaced in 2008. From the Wikipedia page: “In 2008, the company began a nationwide search for the new “Chiko Chick”, hoping to downplay the traditionally raunchy look in favour of a more wholesome “girl next door” image.”

She was replaced by Annette Melton who played Regina DeFrancisco in Deadly Women

I’ve never actually had a chiko roll. Is that horribly un-Australian of me? I don’t think I’ve ever had one of those fish shop dim sims either, they always look a bit gross to me.

Probably. I think they’re kinda dying off these days though. I’ve been in 6 fish and chips shops so far that said they didn’t do them anymore. Admittedly though, 2 of those were weird hipster ones bragging about everything being low sodium and didn’t even do potato cakes

Yep. Hipster cafes are usually okay, the best coffee I’ve ever had came out of a hipster cafe (though they did have pricing to match). Hipster fish and chippies though, hell nah. I don’t want low sodium chips with msg free chicken salt! I want the filthiest, most unhealthy, deepest fried chips with the most artery clogging chicken salt you’ll give me!

Cleaned stove, benches and sink area, loaded dishwasher, doing washing to get as much as possible done before child’s birthday party this arvo. One of the Minipeelers cousins is having a birthday, and although she’s much younger than my kids they’re excited to go and are pretty good sports about it. Earlier in the year another younger cousin had a Dr themed birthday party and I was delighted to see my kids happily submit to being patients to many doctors coat wearing small girls administering candy medicines lol. Some of us saw the “medicine” table and went “Ayo I remember parties like this!”

I can’t take constantly being behind on dishes and having them sit. It’s gross. I’m considering a bench top dishwasher… ideally I’d do it by hand every day but this is the chore I consistently struggle with the most.

    Has anyone here had one?

Appliances online have dish drawers for like 1000-2000 but I don’t think I’ll be doing that. (Been budgeting my buns off but have dental coming up.)

I’m looking at the benchtop dishwashers in the $400 ballpark, and it would have to be the kind with a renter friendly adapter that attaches to the tap.

I’ve never used a bench top dishwasher but I will be if I move again and the next place doesn’t have a dishwasher. This is the first place I’ve ever lived in that has a dishwasher, and I never want to go back

Unsure how much they are or if they have them, but Kids off the Kerb might have a refurbished one. I got my fridge, washing machine, and dryer from them, they teach disadvantaged youth how to refurbish appliances.

My fridge is still going strong after 9 years or so, and the washing machine has only just carked it (I think I just need to replace the drain part though).

They might have something for cheaper than retail 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh sweet. How easy is it to use?

Are you able to easily get the tap connection on and off, any leaks, are there any flimsy plastic pieces I could accidentally break?

        Thanks

          Very easy to use.

I don’t use the hose because I would need a special tap fitting so instead I hand fill it. They give you jug for this. Very easy to fill.

There’s no flimsy plastic to break. Very easy to clean.

I’ll add that some plates don’t fit so I had to buy some more. Under 27cm diameter fit. Corelle make some. Medium saucepan will fit. A large won’t.

As far as I know this is the only one on the market that you can hand fill (it was when I was looking). If your tap has a thread then you can use the hose that’s supplied. You can even buy connections that allow you to leave it connected and use the tap as well otherwise you have to disconnect it everytime you want to use it. Too much hassle and that’s why I chose this one.

That’s really good to know. I do have a spare washing machine type tap in the “laundry” and space on top of the washing machine along with a power point so in theory it could be the perfect place for the dishwasher. I’m thinking of getting a second hand one maybe. Are they any good at washing plastic things (at least better than hand washing)?

This one is perfect for you then. You can fit 24 pieces of cutlery and maybe 9 cups in there together. You can connect it to the tap or hand fill it. Washes last anywhere between 3 hours (economy) or half an hour.

The only thing to remember is you must open the door when the cycle is finished so the dishes dry otherwise mold may build up in there.

Have had a benchtop since 2015ish. Sheffield model. Use the dishwasher gel, not the pellets, pay attention to any stacking requirements. I piggybacked it on the washing machine cocks and had it dump in the laundry sink at the old place, new one it’s in the brewery for glassware
