No shit, nicotine like all other stimulants like vyvanse or Adderall or even coffee are all vasoconstrictors. So are 5-HT2A psychs like shrooms and LSD.
The findings in nic free juice are interesting though. I’d also like it if there was a study on nicotine salts specifically.
Older vapes used freebase nicotine, quite unpleasant in high doses, like 6mg/10ml, so we vaped a lot of juice with a smaller nicotine concentration.
On the other hand nic salts are a very different ballgame, elfbars have like 24mg/10ml strength and you feel no throat hit at all. It feels “unnatural” and vibes tell me to worry.
Yeah, this “study” feels a lot like “science finds that the sky appears blue” right up until you get to the nic free stuff. The heck?
I’m curious to say the least.
I too would like to see the nic salt differences.

ADHD sufferers unité!
Raynaud’s, Nic, caffeine and Elvanse - no better combo for having feet cold enough to be a weapon.
During three separate sessions, participants had two MRI scans each—one before and one after smoking or vaping episodes, which included tobacco cigarettes, e-cigarette aerosol with nicotine, and e-cigarette aerosol without nicotine.
Should be noted these results are present for cigarettes too.
Yeah, but that doesn’t make for catchy headlines.
So far the “negatives” for vaping is almost always something that already happens for smoking, but it’s overshadowed by the fact that smoking via combustible products is carcinogenic, and “gives you cancer”.
Anything that can be said negatively about vaping, is generally 100x worse with smoking, plus, smoking gives you cancer, so…
Long story short: vaping is less bad than smoking.
This does not and should not imply that it is good for you. It is simply less harmful.
The uniquely bad part about vapes has to do with the waste. Cigarette butts aren’t good for the environment or anything but disposable electronics are particularly bad
That’s a matter of what people are buying.
There’s plenty of ways to vape that reduce waste.
I’m very against disposable vapes. Using a refillable vape is a good start, but some of the most waste-free methods are basically banned due to child resistant packaging laws for vapes.
Remember “popcorn lung” whatever happened to that?
Wasn’t that from a specific additive? Reputable sources wouldn’t include it.
Certain flavorings contain a diketone chemical. They were mostly used in butter or cream flavors.
Orignal vape juice contained Nicotine, Vegetable Glycerin, and Propylene Glycol. Then a flavoring was added to make it taste.
The flavorings are used in baking or even making popcorn. “Safe” to eat but not to inhale.
People that worked in movie theaters would develop “popcorn lung” from breathing in the butter flavoring all day. That’s where the term comes from.
Any reputable vape juice company would not use these flavorings today.
Diacetyl.
This. And the last I heard was that the levels required to cause “popcorn lung” with dicetyl additives in vape liquids was much higher than what you should reasonably be exposed to by vaping it.
The industry as a whole still moved to alternatives regardless.
At least the legit/legal places did.
Yup, as soon as any problems with diacetyl were revealed, everyone stopped using it, and messaging to end users to avoid it was strong.
That was weed vapes with vitamin e acetate as a thickener. Not a thing in legit and regulated nicotine vapes.
I think you’re mistaken. It was actually a butter flavoring that caused popcorn lung.
Sounds like bullshit, but it is the truth.
It was a butter flavoring. Diacetyl. There was also a Vit E acetate problem for a short period of time related to bathtub THC vape cart refills, and it was used as a thickener.
From what I understand, most of the hospitalizations in the USA from VALI, were actually from these bathtub THC vapes.
A bunch of people pointed at popcorn lung and diacetyl, which I am not aware of any cases of that additive creating any issues for anyone at any time. Since it could, the industry stopped using it anyways.
Most of the people involved in the social media campaign where VALI patients would hold up a sign that reads something to the effect of starting an anti-vaping thing, are basically all from vit E acetate.
Afaik, that didn’t end up in the news, since they just don’t do follow ups because they’re not sensational enough.
Diacetyl was out of use for a very long time before the VitE acetate thing came up. I want to say there were something like 12 hospitalizations from VitE acetate? Most of them admitted to using THC vape carts, there were like three or four who said they didn’t.
Patients lie.
Bathtub?
Colloquial for “homemade and unregulated,” as in the phrase “bathtub gin.”
I see, thanks.
One of the only situations where an entire industry self-regulated out diacetyl(sp?) due to common sense.
I personally couldn’t believe it when I saw it happen. Everyone just kinda agreed and started pulling all of it. Extract companies started labeling shit… I was flabbergasted.
Plus you look dumb. Ought to be enough of a deterrent right there!
OP: I don’t mean you!
