Threaten Israel with mean thoughts and curses? After 3 years of Ukraine fighting Russia to a standstill, that’s probably all they have left. They’ve already chewed through their Soviet “inheritance”.
StrawberryPigtails@lemmy.sdf.orgto News@lemmy.world•Officials cancel all "No Kings" events in Minnesota following shootings of Rep. Hortman, Sen. HoffmanEnglish7·5 days agoI was about to reply that today’s protests seem to have gone off peacefully till this article came up in my news feeds.
https://www.opb.org/article/2025/06/14/portland-police-ice-facility-riot/
As far as I know though, the Portland protest, and the assassinations of the Minnesota legislator, Melissa Hortman, and her husband, seem to have been the exceptions.
StrawberryPigtails@lemmy.sdf.orgto News@lemmy.world•Officials cancel all "No Kings" events in Minnesota following shootings of Rep. Hortman, Sen. HoffmanEnglish623·5 days agoIn the US, generally, you aren’t so much asking permission as giving notice that your expecting a generate a crowd, despite the phrasing. Freedoms of speech, assembly and association are still a thing.
The purpose behind it is to give emergency services a heads up to minimize obstruction of normal or emergency traffic and to provide some level of crowd control to minimize the chance of flash stampedes. Like if some idiot sets off a firework, everyone thinks it’s a gunshot and started running.
Approval is generally automatic, but failure to go through the approval process could result in your peaceful protest turning into a riot, or being declared a riot.

The gas powered ones are called a string of curses that would get me banned. Usually while trying to get them to crank. There’s a reason I went electric.

Performance and Weights: • Maximum Speed 240 knots (276 mph) • Service Ceiling Altitude 50,000 ft • Endurance 20 hours • Maximum Gross Weight 10,500 lbs
Seems like that would likely cause pilots and any remaining ATCs in the area ulcers. Especially if it wasn’t following flight rules. I seem to recall that quite a few planes fly around the LA metro area.

Sometimes it’s a past injury that’s the cause. For most people though, it’s often caused by weak back muscles or over exertion. Or both.
Might try some light yoga focusing on the back, but you should definitely go see a doc. A chiropractor might be helpful as well.
StrawberryPigtails@lemmy.sdf.orgto Technology@lemmy.zip•[Opinion] We Should Immediately Nationalize SpaceX and StarlinkEnglish8·13 days agoThe only time the government is willing to spend money on space exploration ( or anything for that matter) is if they are trying to play a game of “Im better then you” with other nations.
We have a public space agency in the US and they have done jack all in maned space exploration since the end of the Apollo program. And what little they have done has been massively overpriced.
In my opinion , it’s best to have both public and commercial space flight programs. Greed in two different directions might actually accomplish something and I strongly believe that we need a STRONG space presence not just in our own solar system but in many systems throughout the galaxy for our own survival as a species.

Beyond that, my general advice is to sort Lemmy instances by number of active users, then pick one that’s somewhere between the 10th and 20th largest.

Might want to avoid using relative paths with bind mounts and declare the full path. It has caused me headaches before.

The soapmug is an Old Spice mug I got second hand off ebay. Not sure when it was made. 80’s maybe. The others were bought new.
StrawberryPigtails@lemmy.sdf.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why Squeeze Water Bottles?English7·20 days agoSpeaking for myself, if I’m drinking fast enough the bottle will crush itself as the internal pressure drops. It’s part of the reason I prefer self venting bottles to single use bottles. They don’t crush and I can get water out of the fast enough if Im really thirsty.
For CDs, Amazon, ebay, or discogs. Digital music I usually get from the artist’s webstore if possible, otherwise I’ll buy it from Amazon or BandCamp.
One heads up, Buying and downloading digital music from Amazon is a pain in the butt if you have an Amazon Music subscription. Easy and straightforward though without.
Apple music is also possible but you have to burn the tracks to CD using itunes to move it out of Apple’s ecosystem.
I also hear good things about Tidal but I’ve never used them.
