Not true. Some weeks are quieter. Those are the ones that you wake up on Sunday morning, look at the beautiful weather outside, pour yourself some coffee, and get excited about all the things you’re going to accomplish.
Then, you blink twice and poof it’s 8:00 PM on the following Saturday and you’re standing in the kitchen in your bathrobe with a cold cup of coffee wondering what the hell just happened.
I feel seen.
… and get excited about all the things you’re going to accomplish.
Question: why do you always have to accomplish something?
Because I want to put some shelves up or go to the zoo or go check out that new coffee shop. I like gardening but rarely have time for anything beyond maintenance. “Accomplish” doesn’t have to mean work it just means I didn’t veg out for fourteen hours in recovery mode.
This is something I’m struggling to come to terms with and my depression is ramping up at an alarming pace.
Scared I’m going to self-medicate again as I’ve done very well to quit many vices and get things on track but the thought of another 30 years of this is killing me.
And…. I got my dream job as a software developer and well the grass isn’t any greener over here. Sigh
This speaks to me. Every weekend is like. You need to get X done and then you can have fun or relax until work on monday. When I finish sunday its like oof.
fuck
…this week
…in the
ear
Except it seems that every week is just another crisis to be averted
Yes, that’s the joke.
maybe with that attitude
Seeing that so many people agree with this in this thread makes me very sad :(
I’m thankful this is not what my life is like…
This is what wage slavery does to a person, and Lemmy is very left-leaning. Most of us aren’t particularly lucky.
Eventually you get to “Maybe next holiday.” Which turns into “Maybe next vacation.”
And then you realize you’re burning PTO on various crisises than a vacation will never come.
So that’s developing into “Maybe if I am lucky to retire…”
Sounds more like “doing the work you hate” world.
Wrong time for this post. We just had August, that for most office jobs is quite quiet. I had a few really easy weeks. Now September could be uphill (but strategically I planned my PTO for September).
our end of year is august 31st!
