    Are you Australian by any chance? I’ve never heard anyone else use the term “ute”. Just wondering :)

      It’s a utility vehicle, mate. I know Americans call them trucks, but over here you need a commercial licence to drive a truck, because they’re big and they’re dangerous if driven by someone without the proper training. American trucks have nothing on actual trucks, though thanks to irresponsible legislation they have many times the death toll.

        I understand, it’s just that I’ve never heard that term outside of Australia. I was just wondering.

        I agree that the term “truck” for both a HGV and a pickup is super confusing and I made that mistake myself earlier in the thread.
