    12 Step groups like Alcoholics Anonymous tell us that it’s easier to give up a bad habit when you are helping someone else who has the same problem.

    I suppose it’s true overall. I’m proud that I stopped biting my nails in high school with will power and mindfulness, if I happened to notice I was I’d let myself finish and then actively stop. I managed to bring this mentality with me into adulthood but I can definitely see it not being effective for everyone, especially since executive dysfunction seems to be a big problem for a lot of people.
