We are in post-competition capitalism. Even if the alternative isn’t owned by the same parent company, they will do the same bullshit.
Oligopolies baby! Ask any Canadian.
Thankfully, Rogers wasn’t able to buy Freedom Mobile.
I’m keeping this 50gb/unlimited Canada and US roaming for $39
Yay…
Its disgusting, really. It‘s also part of our daily lives. Having a great idea or great skills isnt enough, unless they are part of the dark triad. People with those skills will always eat your lunch - for free.
We need to pathologize these behaviors instead of normalizing them.
What bullshit is that? Not giving you a discount just because you already buy from them?
Customer: I’m never coming here again!
Me (internally): that’s very kind of you
Next week: they’re back
Welcome back!
Look, if it were up to me I’d love to help you out. I have to think of this way though… My wife and kids would be awfully sore at me if I came home unemployed for breaking company policy like that.
See, that would require them viewing you as human.
The worst part is, corporations treat their own employees with the no loyalty mindset. The idea of finding one good company and getting raises and a pension out of them is pretty much dead.
Yet they say: We’Re LiKe FaMiLy
In the Andrew Tate sense, maybe:
Exploit them for free or cheap labor.
That is why I hope that people start unionising more and start switching jobs more regularly. The increased turnover should mean that companies try to retain employees for the sake of projects not being constantly delayed. I also hope that this also leads to more people starting their own businesses and competing with their former employers both in employing terms (by having better work conditions) and eventually consumer loyalty.
Yeah, my boss expects that. He’s been at the same company for almost 20 years, since the department was created.
He also gave me a 3% raise this year. It’s nice to get cost of living, but why would I try to invest in a workplace where I know I’ll be able to make more and more elsewhere every year.
But I voted so that you can make more money. Doesn’t that count for something?
I wonder how much of this mindset comes from dealing with local/smaller and more humane businesses which actually gave a damn about people
