Does anyone else feel bad when they have to pretend to be a singlet?
We get harassed at work just for being trans and we feel it’s better to never explicitly mention the plural thing. It sucks when I’m stressed and have to say I’m doing things on my own because I’m not. I want to give credit to who I consider my real family for making sure I’m safe and that I eat when I’m sad and don’t feel like garbage. I know they don’t just take care of me because we share a body.
They’re heavily involved in our external life and I wish there was a better way to talk about them without it making things harder.
We don’t pretend anymore. Our legal name even represents our System. Masking sucks
We’re openly plural to everyone in our life that we trust.
Work doesn’t get to know. Capitalism is an abusive institution that is not owed honesty. We feel no guilt whatsoever about masking at work.
Singlet here. It sucks that you don’t feel safe being open about who your headmates are. I hope you have external friends that you all feel comfortable around. :( A couple of my best friends are systems, and I can’t imagine any of them being anymany other than who they are. You shouldn’t have to pretend. edit: linguistic oops
might be worth saying anymany instead of anyone here, considering they aren’t just one.
Fair enough, I can edit that.
I’m used to talking like one person but also, as for this post, I don’t think the others are as bothered as who is fronting right now by the pretending thing
<3. We are sorry. Hopefully eventually this will be more accepted/understood in society.
100%, things for us at work are very much a combined effort and it really sucks to have to hide all of that out of fear of whatever kind of retaliation. We at least take solace in the times and places we are allowed to be open about us and I hope that y’all have similar spaces where you can properly exist. Work has consistently been just a place to fake it, no matter where we’re working, but that doesn’t take anything away from the system as a whole. - Phoebe (it/its)
We don’t really experience this, though we’re very switchy and had accepted that there is no one in the body with our legal name.
That being said, we do hope you and your headmates are able to get into better working conditions. ❤️
