I realise my sister is not doing great, up to her armpits in mental health crisis. I fully validate the legitimacy of what’s going on. I love her. I very much want to help her, and have come running the moment she’s said “can you watch the kids” or whatever.

I recognise all of these things.

I still don’t think I deserve to be her emotional punching bag because she’s upset with another person who isn’t actually me

Yeah nah. You don’t deserve that. Maybe start with “I love you and I want to help you but if you yell at me, I’m leaving”.

I’ve actually had to do something similar with my sister who rants loudly about people to me over the phone. I have threatened to hang up and I have done it. I don’t yell so I won’t take it from anyone else.

Indeed you do NOT deserve to be anybody’s punching bag. Does she think she’s ‘sharing’ or ‘venting’ or some such, rather than what is actually happening? I appreciate that she is probably not ready to hear that what she’s doing is over the limits of the acceptable. Can only suggest some kind of therapy - for her. But that could be a very delicate negotiation.

She got mad at me for cadging a lift from the person she was mad at.

I had no idea of the undercurrent, I just needed transport. Cue shouting at me for doing it this way.

…I’d come there at her request to care for her kids

Had she told you ahead of the transport that she was stroppy at that person? If not, then it’s on her if the incident was unacceptable to her delicate sensibilities. You still don’t deserve to be yelled at. Informed, yes - in good time to make appropriate arrangements. Yelled at, no.
She may also be yelling at herself for forgetting to tell you the reason, or maybe thought she had told you when she hadn’t. She still shouldn’t have done it.

No, she hadn’t. I had no idea.

She’s,since called me again to look after the kids…yes, of course. I love the kids, I’ll do it.

I apologised to her for upsetting her - I didn’t know, if I had known I would have sorted something else out etc. I truly hadn’t meant to cause her distress, so I chose to be the adult about it.

She blew up at me again. Continues to be mad at me for the whole thing. I still have no idea why I’m the proxy

Yeah, proxy means that there’s no rational resolution possible. Next time, I wouldn’t apologise - she needs to be called out for being aggro to you when you WEREN’T the problem. Yell back - about blaming the victim of her lack of info sharing. This isn’t childish - it’s confronting a bully. And we know what happens when you cave to a bully.

Did you tell her who she should be mad at?

and is she mad at you or mad at life

Fuckign Ozbargain has done it again. A scotch gift pack with the two glasses for cheaper than the bottle by itself.

That website is not for saving money

I’ve had that on Door Dash before - a gift box of liquor cheaper delivered than going to pick it up in store. Nuts.

That’s the classic loss leader approach to get you used to using the app. These glasses they come with must cost nothing because these packs are often the same price as the bottle on its own

Had a couple of spritzes last night and didn’t realise each tiny can was 8%. Passed the fuck out at like 9pm lol.

Had a lovely date night with mein liebe. Dinner at Olivine Wine Bar at Pentridge, but exxy but highly recommend! Had two oysters each, a goat cheese and beetroot tart, and fried chicken lol, exquisite! The cocktails were phenomenal! And the bar is in one of the prison houses, so all the cells are converted to little rooms with tables and chairs, it’s surprising cozy!

Went to Palace Cinema and watched Digger. Highly recommend it, loved it! Tom Cruise and John Goodman are fucking awesome and the story is wild and artsy, with an amazingly poingnant message. 9/10, point deducted for being over 2 hours long. Same director as The Revenant and Birdman, so I should have known lol

I can’t wait to see Digger, I love Iñárritu so much. Have you seen Bardo? That was also very good.

He’s such an artist, Iñárritu is, I always get lost in his films. I think you’ll like Digger, it’s trailer doesn’t do the film justice; it’s a trip of a movie.

No I haven’t seen Bardo but I’ve been meaning to! I’ll have to give it a watch :)

This month’s fruit & veg box arrived today and I just ate half a melon. I now have an over supply of green apples, so will need to plan some cooking. I also got two bags of little carrots - they are about half as long as the ‘standard’ size you tend to get, but just at thick. Absolutely perfect for a single person.

Went to the Rome exhibition yesterday.

    Was good.

Many of the sculptures of people were missing their noses. Deliberate? Weathering? Both? I guess we’ll never know.

Favourite was a zodiac sundial at the end. Thing was in mint condition.

2nd fave was a statue of Bacchus, god of all sorts of shit including wine. Dude knew how to partay. Respect the wine god.

It was both, regarding the noses. It can be a weak spot in the sculpture so can wear and break easily. But also, yeah vandals and stuff would do it too.

And as Catfish said, the Vatican lopped the statues doodles off because “oh no a penis!”.

That was a really good exhibition.

It showed all aspects of Roman life and each object, each exhibit, was a masterpiece

I loved all the little bronzes and all the coins.

Do not disrespect Bacchus, the meanads will eat you.

Noses I can’t say, but there is reputedly a large collection of removed genitals in the Vatican archive.

Someone kindly left brownies in my office for me and they smell so sickly sweet. Between that and the hayfever, my nose is not happy today. Though I guess, given what BR saw yesterday, I should be glad I still have my nose.

oooof. was gonna get a can of plastidip - dipping not spray - to redo the fingertips of my working gloves. Like, fifteen pairs (I’ve been handing a lot of rock). $50 for a half litre. Not too bad.

    $110 shipping. get faaaaaaaaaarked

so uh, anyone got an alternate? Looking for brush on or dip over spray since I’m basically putting little rubber finger hats on the tips.

these are gloves I have literally been using to dig through 7mm and scoria with my hands. For three years. The fact they’ve held up with minimal little finger holes is a testament to how good they are.

        also: not a helpful comment.

          Sure lets argue.

If you’ve worn through the tips hand plowing scoria, plastidip will add a useless little bit of rubber over the hole that’ll promplty wear off once you start digging in scoria again.

            Yes, that’s the plan. Time.

I’m not looking to argue. I’m literally seeing if anyone has sources for supplies to repair. Replying with “buy better gloves” doesn’t address the scope and is kinda arsey so…not a helpful comment.
