It’s not that rational of a position. I mainly just think that plastic looks and feels tacky as hell.

I mean, I am also trying to reduce plastic items in my household in general, because it’s just less potential sources of microplastics, but I have no idea, if these pots would even give off any microplastics. They don’t typically get abraded, at least.

I guess, on the flipside though, non-plastic pots can be good for plants. For example, if you have a plant which struggles in moist soil, then a terracotta pot can help to move that moisture out.

        Okay, I see.

        terrecotta pot

Yeah, I probably need to do that with a couple Jade cuttings I just bought, as I understand that residual moisture in the root area is bad news for them. Also, I evidently need to swap out the soil with a courser mix, possibly even just small pebbles.

They’ll certainly shed microplastics, but it’s not really a household environmental source concern. The main pathway is through eating or drinking, so if you had edible plants in plastic pots then maybe. But it’s still not nearly as much as plastic food containers, especially if you’re using them for prep, or the worst, reheating food in the microwave in plastic.
