But why
Hey, I’ve seen this show!
“Gee, Brain. What are we going to do tonight?
The same thing we do every night, Pinky. Try to take over the world.”
Which one of them is supposed to have the part-human brain?
Has the world collectively abandoned ethics?
Our “leaders” are pedophiles, so yeah
Here comes “The Secret of NIHM”
An upgrade for the majority of complex life, the psychic rats are clearly going to be better stewards of the natural world than humans have been
In previous work, the Stanford team transplanted human neurons into rat brains. The tissue took root and wired into the animals’ brain circuits, but there was too little room for the human tissue to grow very much.
To solve the problem, the researchers genetically engineered mice to stunt the growth of key brain regions, the cerebral cortex and hippocampus. Surprisingly, the mice survived because the remaining parts of the brain took on new roles. While the mice look normal, they are cautious on their feet and more forgetful.
Uh, hmm, I guess since people are into building torment nexi lately this just makes sense. They talk about growing human brains in mice like it’s old hat, and boy howdy we sure are getting better at it!
Quickly veering into the “just don’t do it” category but the kid in me really wants a terrarium filled with mice that wear primitive clothing and hunt with spears.
All fun and games until one of then says “what are we going to do tonight, Brain?”
The opening song just started in my head as soon as I read that headline.
Presumably to make them better at playing doom.
Thanks, we needed this new potential nightmare
I think I’ve seen this horror movie.
Wat
Yea, this might as well happen.
You know as insane as this sounds, everything is relative. So… with that in mind, I’m gonna say this is still significantly less disturbing than the “cyborg cockroaches with syringes” story that made it to Lemmy last week.
So you know what, fine. Human brain mice, go for it.
Wait what.
Those are some “tired sci-fi writer just mashes words together in a desperate bid to pitch something” vibes. There’s no way thats real?
I so, genuinely wish it wasn’t real…

Also, I apparently don’t know how to make a Lemmy link, so he’s a direct link to the article:
