I’m on a committee for a non-profit and put this sheet together just to show people what costs would be for various gaming setups. The goal is to build a gaming community and eventually have big tournaments and possibly fundraising events.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
3k for a flight sim setup? That is very high end. Short of replica cockpits or flight decks I don’t know how you could even spend much more than that.
I figured in the pc and monitor with that pricing. It looks like a decent set of controls is around $500 Then some kind of gaming chair and at least a desk. You’re right though $3k is high. Maybe $2k is more realistic.
The description said entry level though, which you could easily do for under £1k at an entry level budget.
Easily, with an okay-ish monitor and peripherals, and today’s RAM prices?
Yeah, it said entry level not high end.
I am aware, and I repeat my question.
I imagine entry level as slightly more comfortable than the cheapest hardware out there. 16GB DDR4 RAM is >€100. Motherboard, CPU, PSU all likely around that price too. CPU cooler €60 GPU €200. That all comes down to ~€600
Case €50. Monitor €150. HOTAS another €100.
Keyboard and mouse… if flight SIM is the primary concern I guess you don’t really need to spend on those.Everything so far comes down to €960.
I suppose it can still be done… probably even cheaper than this is you hunt around for deals/second hand, I didn’t care to spend too much time looking up each individual component. When I did look up the DDR4 price I figured I might as well spend a bit more time; I didn’t bother going back so this comment is a bit all over the place. Also I’m assuming you’re not buying windows.I went ahead and just said $250 - $500 for controls and nothing else.
Thrustmaster T16000M is pretty good and the sort of thing you would be looking for as a reliable option that is comfortable for entry level. Currently £50 on Amazon. Any keyboard and mouse that is functional to go with it would be fine.
You’re right $80usd plus tax, I’ll go ahead and say $100
