It’d probably be much lower if they were able to interview those people without any time left in their lives for answering such a survey.
Social support 93% is that a joke?
I mean, it’s all graded on a curve…
That doesn’t make sense on a curve we can’t get healthcare, we don’t have very many worker protections and we get forced into inescapable poverty very easily. Most other developed countries have a lot more social support
And I hear Conservatives b1tçh and moan about Americans having “too many choices?” Sad!
Ranking 24 on happiness seems high.
For the “#1 country in the world” with (2nd?) largest economy, it ranks below Costa Rica (6), Mexico (10), Slovenia (19), and UAE (21). It’s in the 20s with friggin Kosovo (29) and Belize (25). Belize btw is the #1 in perceived freedom.
For the news coming out of the US, yes it seems quite high. For the economic power the US wields, not even getting into the top 20 is quite bad.
Oh certainly and what makes it worse is we are moving backwards in this. What I do has more to do with keeping a roof over my and my wifes head followed by having food and then health insurance. Sure you can say everyone in the world works like this but I kinda think its flipped here. Basically I have to look at what will make me the most money and then out of things that are close enough in compensation I choose what I would prefer. Case in point I go a bachelors with two majors intending on getting a PhD. I left the PhD program before the first year was done mainly because getting the degree had went from 4 years way back when to 5 and actually closer to 6 and would likely be 6 by the time I got to 5. Then rather than getting a position like way way back when or doing just one post doc like way back when. Whelp an opening came up and people applying had at least two post docs under their belt and one guy was on his fourth. Im guessing two post docs is about when even many stary eyed dreamers start to give up. Even then you have publish and perish and tenyear no longer comes along after ten years. Anyway I go into the industry only to find lab work does not pay very well considering what went into the schooling. Associates people will do similar work for lower pay and masters people will do the same work for the same pay. With a bachelors you are not really in a position to get more. There were two ways out. MBA (yuck) and IT. So I chose IT. I mean I like it and its fine but to some degree its not what I really want to do. I picked up an educations masters but could not do student teaching so can’t do the work and at that point in my life can’t afford to not make money for the period it would take to get the student teaching. Im actually starting to look back into that now so it will be ironic that a bad economy gets me back into something I more like but you know as it stands now our healthcare is on thin ice and losing the home is something that will happen unless my circumstances change. Its funny how trump and really republicans treat being american as some great thing then ironically make it a much worse thing that its like when they are not in charge. They keep dragging us down and we can’t get back to levels that other countries maintain even during bad times because here you only get support if you are at rock bottom. Other countries have social safety nets and we have a social safety mat that is continually being shaved thinner. Yeah sure you will break a few economic bones but you will be alive. To bad that climb is much easier if your bones aren’t broken.
