You’re not affected if (and only if)

    • You access Facebook and Instagram via the web, without having the apps installed on your phone

    • You browse on desktop computers or use iOS (iPhones)

    • You always used the Brave browser or the DuckDuckGo search engine on mobile

basically, don’t ever install meta apps on any of your devices and use a browser that has good tab isolation, always use Firefox would be my advice

Mobile Firefox is pretty solid. I suggest using the beta version beause it allows you to use about:config tweaks.

This is why I minimize any and all apps on my phone. For example, my piece of shit gym requires you to log in with their aids mobile app. I refuse to install it so every time I walk into the gym, they have to log me in with my phone number. They always give me shit and tell me to get the app. Every time I just tell them I’m not going to do it and if they don’t want to accommodate me, I’ll just find a new gym. I’m not installing a spyware app just to log into the fucking gym thank you very much. I guarantee that crap gym app does similar shit to what Meta does. Mobile apps are horrendously insecure.
