    It’s just taking music and then speeding it up and pitch shifting it lmao. Seems like an appropriate name to me.

          To me, it’s that they had to come up with a name for it since I doubt anyone would want to admit to liking Linkin Park - In The End (Chipmunk Version) rather than Nightcore Remix by xXRavenXx

            that might be it, it’s definitely an odd sub-genre of music, but there are similar things in other samples pulled into other songs. Vaporwave being a fairly similar aesthetic just sort of backwards.

            No idea what the etymology of nightcore is, but i’m sure it’s interesting.
