Attorney General nominee Matt Gaetz made a shocking claim that he could expose his genitals to an underaged person and not lose any support from his base.
I feel like a large part of this is that it’s consistent and shared hate. Like going to a shitty movie with friends or being stuck at the DMV/doctors waiting room, or dealing with taxes or whatever… people can complain because they know other people in the group will share their complaints and misery loves company.
It doesn’t matter if what you’re complaining about can be easily fixed, and they don’t want to hear a better way, they just want to bitch and have people reciprocate the same misery.
For them, hate is fun (or the closest approximation thereof). It all makes sense after that.
