What is the worst film you have ever seen and why? - eviltoast

For me the shape of water was the worst film I’ve ever seen because the whole story was just so weird and ridiculous… An alien and a woman getting together.

The worst part about it is that critics at the time were praising the film…

Birdemic is objectively the worst film I’ve ever seen. The Room got people looking for another “best worst movie,” and Birdemic kept coming up, but-- look. The Room was A Thing because it’s only written and directed by an alien. In every other respect, it is a real movie, made by professionals, for sensible quantities of money. You will never appreciate good sound until you experience bad sound. But sound is far from the most jarring failure of Birdemic, as an example of visual storytelling. Difficulty hearing the protagonist’s utterly pointless wish-fulfillment first act is an improvement. And there is simply no excusing how the “special effects” might a well be from Mario Paint.

Birdemic is only fun-bad if you go in knowing it’s dawdling garbage. Otherwise it’s just bad, bad. It won’t gross you out or morally offend you. Nor will it scar you with incomprehensible cultural debris, like The Star Wars Holiday Special. But god damn is it stupid.

It’s the only movie I’ve used Rifftrax for on a first viewing. I knew what I was in for!

Even with the MST3K crew, Birdemic was rrrrough.

Some movies are just awful. The plot is nonsense, the dialog is bad, the acting is worse. The Room and Mitchell are excellent examples. They’re fun trash. Functional. Recognizable.

Some movies are incompetent. Birdemic is even worse on this front than Manos: The Hands Of Fate. And Manos was made by a manure salesman… on a dare.
