It’s a bit contrary to the spirit of self-hosting to promote giant centralised walled gardens, like Cloudflare. Please remove selfhosted@lemmy.world from the sidebar (otherwise, why not add whatever self-hosted Facebook communities there are?). Also consider removing selfhost@lemmy.ml because it’s centralised by size (the node size is 2 standard deviations above the mean).
I propose in place of those two centralised communities, these free-world decentralised communities instead, which are more conducive to avoiding centralised power:
!selfhosted@krabb.org
!homelab@lemmy.lidstah.info
!selfhosted@lemmy.nexus
!SelfHosted@europe.pub
!esc@europe.pub

I am not a member, so I do not have access to whatever undisclosed insider venue you have in mind.
Bullshit nonetheless though. If you don’t want to see dialog from non-locals, it’s on you to find a defederated forum.
Nonsense. I don’t see your proposal for what is the place for sidebar issues.
See, that’s the problem. You didn’t look. You don’t care. You want to tell folks what to do.
Look at the vote count. That should tell you what folks think about your methods.
What gives you that idea?
What gives you that idea?
What gives you that idea?
And?
It does not. The very problem at hand is the fedi being flooded by centralised fiefdoms hosting copious boot lickers. Of course they vote accordingly. Speaking negatively about LemmyWorld nearly guarantees downvotes when seen by loyal LW pawns, who per their choice of loyalty lack awareness of the consequences of their choice.
The fact that centralised communities pollute local polls is yet another problem when decentralised communities intermingle w/giant centralised ones. Which is exacerbated when people like yourself put stock into those votes.
Its not a secret or anything. The main eviltoast forum is where we usually discuss community impacting stuff. We also have a support forum for the clueless. You’ll find a couple posts from me there.
It’s strange to find somebody here in our little local comm acting like this. You are on a crusade of some sort. Good luck with that, pilgrim.
That is not the right place to discuss a side-bar of some moderator, unless the side-bar breaks sitewide rules. Otherwise it’s asking for micromanagement. It’s also sneaky to conceal the conversation from the people of the community where they won’t see it. Being subscribed to selfhosting does not subscribe you to eviltoast@eviltoast.org or eviltoast_support@eviltoast.org.
It’s also obnoxious and disrespectful to go above someone’s head as you advocate, without first giving them a chance to act.
It’s anti-democratic to not bring anti-thetical guidelines to the attention of the affected community.
