Thanks! That’s an important consideration that I hadn’t run across.

I don’t use a phone case and it’s less secure besides.

I use Kagi too, it’s great.
The other commenter corrected your index note.
What I found most illuminating was a comment by the CEO in an interview, perhaps The Verge? The TLDR of it was that Google makes money when you dwell on their site (so they want the highest ad serves per search), and a paid search engine loses money every page they have to serve you (so they want to give you your answer fast).
So, the user and Google are at odds, and the user and Kagi have the same goal.

It’s tap to pay (or use the public transit) that’s keeping me back.

Why Molly over the official client, may I ask? The official client is already OSS.

I only read about that today, so I hadn’t even considered that angle. They’re doing some cool stuff in that space. jeff is the self-hostable one that does best as far as I know.

Both are reasonable, though I understand why Google is pushing back against it.
The assistant angle simply is saying that they have to expose APIs that they are already using and that they can’t lock away those features, especially on an open-source operating system.
On the second point, it’s just mitigating the first-mover advantage — just because Google existed before something else, potentially before an inventor-of-a-competitor was even born, doesn’t mean that they should be immune to competitive pressure.

It’s very hard to improve things, hard to keep the status quo in the face of those trying to tear it down, and really really easy to take a blowtorch to it. “Not regressing” is fucking huge, and if you doubt that, you need to read more history (the Renaissance started by just getting back to where the Greeks were thousands of years prior)
If every day you push fascism off till the next day, you’ll never have fascism .
1% of what you want is literally infinitely more than zero percent. If you don’t think 1% matters, I suggest you look up “compound interest”.
Blue no matter who.

This. Exactly this.

I am not trans, but I will say that I think you should move to a more accepting area first. We would be thrilled to welcome you as whichever gender identity you’d like to be here in the Bay Area.
Best of luck internet friend.

I’m almost there.
I also live in the Bay Area. My rent is locally cheap but nationally very high. My wife has a chronic illness and an unrelated acute issue that recently required surgery. She can barely work. Until this most recent surgery I was keeping ahead, but expenses are up and income is down and that’s not true anymore.
I have good health insurance but there’s a lot more to medical costs than just doctors, and to partially manage her daily quality of life it’s not weird to cook her three different dinners and she can only stomach one. This explodes our meal budget.
We’re childfree but one of our dogs recently also got diagnosed with chronic illness. They are our kids, full stop.
Shit happens. Don’t be a dick about it.

Wrong. It’s “democrats advanced in fits and starts, sometimes stumbling and falling, but heading in the direction of the finish line. I keep voting for them because the other guys are trying to set off a dirty bomb on the race track.”
They’re all sourced to the same “study” by a climate denialists outfit.

I’m all about MonoLisa, but I’ll give this a look

Ten,

Sleep as Android!
You can make it device administrator and additionally add a max snooze count and a dismissal CAPTCHA. When I REALLY have to get up no matter what, I need to go physically touch my phone to an NFC tag in the living room. Can’t even turn the phone off because it blocks that when ringing when given admin access.

JS Bach.
The only two I would consider otherwise are both alive (Lindsey Stirling and Amy Lee). They even have a collaborative piece 🎉
Palestine can be anywhere. It doesn’t have to be on top of the Byzantine Empire territory. The land clearly belongs to Italy.
That looks very cool and maybe worth porting what I currently do — I just run a super simple template and each recipe is its own include file, with an auto generating index.
Even if the hosting dies the recipes are easy to read on github, and the network availability makes shopping easy if I decide I want to get ingredients for it at a store, or to share.
