German Youtuber Alexi Bexi had a good review of this thing. TL DR: It is a bad product that barely works.
There are some improvements in WatchOS 10 that you can see as better.
But where is the improvement in not being able to swipe between watchfaces anymore? How is taking something away without replacement an improvement? It’s not like the gesture has been replaced with some other great feature. Swipping left and right now simply does nothing at all. So please do explain me how it is for the better.
Easiest solution for you would be an external amplifier, they come in all sizes and price points, and let you turn up the volume as much as you want.
Can’t say that my 12 mini has the same problem though.
