There is no such thing as “responsible use of GenAI”. That said, I understand the decision in the face of even Linus Torvalds allowing AI-generated code into the kernel. If Debian would have banned AI code entirely they would have had to fork every single thing they include in their distro, wipe the AI code from it, and then work to develop it further themselves. It would be too gargantuan a task.

Correct. The Clone Troopers were clones, which in the prequel movies is very clearly pointed out, but by the time of Episode IV: A New Hope the Empire had been recruiting from the general population. Much like most wars which drag on for a while, the elite forces end up having to let in new recruits to fill in gaps from those who were lost. These recruits might not have more than just some basic training, and when rebels then infiltrate weapons manufacturing plants and fiddle with the quality of the guns provided to these troops (IIRC mentioned in Andor if not elsewhere), it’s no wonder the Storm Troopers had worse aim than the Clone Troopers.

I tend to write on it on the couch or at the library or wherever, and then use syncthing to sync with my desktop. This does require keeping syncthing updated.

To my knowledge the CPU is soldered to the mainboard, but I haven’t looked inside it for a while now. Mine is running an Intel Atom N455; single core, two threads.

The problem is not software but hardware. The Compaq CQ510-SD is a nice compact design with round edges and small enough to fit in most any bag. Finding the same in a x64 system seems impossible. Hard edges, larger screens, flimsy chassis, or unuseable keyboards.

I did, yes. Finding a 12" or 13" mini-laptop is just tricky. Might need to build one of those custom clamshells.
