Thanks for posting your experiences with it. I get the impression that while its a cool thing to be able to do, it’s not really a compatibility or usability breakthrough. As in, it won’t fundamentally improve translation performance.

No, you’re not alone. I absolutely hate everything about fireworks. As somebody who also enjoys loud, chaotic noise from time to time, I know that the very least I can do is put some headphones on while I listen to it.

That liquid ain’t gonna glass itself…
I don’t really appreciate your take that this is simply a case of one little guy failing a purity test. Maybe you need to consider the reasons why people use Proton in the first place, I’d argue it’s not just because they are not google or microsoft.
People are seeking secure, trustworthy services that are worth spending actual money on. Andy Yen’s comments, both internal and external, and the direction he wants to take the company in are, to many, at odds with the supposed code of ethics that attracted them in the first place.
So, if a company insists on having a CEO (at all, I would say, but especially one like Yen) that takes the company in a different direction, I think customers have every right to quit. And whine, because of the wasted time and effort they put into that company.

Wym? I think they’ve already said no to the USA quite a few times already.

They are already not worth your money or trust.

My favourite ios client is Thunder for lemmy.

Does anyone here understand the benefits of running this SteamOS VM over a more direct translation using Crossover or Whisky?

Oh I thought the reason was because corporations lobbied your government to make it mandatory for all places everywhere to have an abundance of parking.

I think we need something like this for someone on death row or something, maybe.
Why, though? What makes the person occupying the position of president uniquely qualified to make a decision in cases like this? If you have a judicial system that has been found to apply the law fairly, yet can still have its rulings overturned on a whim, doesn’t that make a mockery of the system?
It feels like an equivalent of a boss saying, “I know you and your team did months of research to come to the decision that you did, but I’m going to go in a different direction anyway. Not because I did more research than you, just because I feel like I know better than all of you”.
Unless theres’ some kind of reason that I’ve overlooked.
Beyond the scope of this thread, I know, but the concept of president seems absurd to me. Especially the way it’s implemented in the USA.
I don’t understand how any of this is addressing any of the concerns that users have expressed about the direction of the company. In fact, if I was feeling particularly skeptical, I’d just as well believe that these posts were solicited from inside the company.

Ed is finally tough enuss

Maybe I’m a particularly sensitive, spiteful snowflake, but if the boss of my company accused me of being a “loser” because I cared about the quality of the product, I’d be looking to deliberately sabotage the product. And for a new job, of course.

2026 business has got very little to do with customers/consumers, supply and demand. Maybe it’s been that way for a long time, but this ‘AI’ nonsense has bought it to the surface, evidently.
That I haven’t managed to fly yet is merely evidence that I just need to flap a bit harder

“one resident”. It’s funny, but I’ve been a resident in places without bike lanes and I don’t recall being asked by the BBC for my opinion.
