I think in the Ontario line the D2 versions of the RAT retail for around $50 and the AUS 8 versions are around $40. I was surprised to see they have a RAT 1.5 in Magnacut for under $100 which, depending on heat treat, might be an amazing deal.

What terrible progress the Chinese could make overnight if only they could figure out how to apply all this know-how, all this skill, this mastery of mass production to an original design for once.

This is essentially what We/Civivi/Sencut are doing, at least from my perspective. They’re working with real designers (in addition to in-house designs) for their knives. Now, I am not a fan of their “flood the market” approach to things, but they certainly apply their manufacturing skills to make some pretty darn good knives. (This sounds very astroturf-y when I re-read it. Not intended to be that.)

Not sure if you’ve looked at Vosteed at all but they have both the Parallel and the TiSlim Racoon (not to be confused with the standard Racoon) for something like $125 - $175 depending on materials both of which beat the Bugout on thinness.

That custom is something else. It all made sense when I learned that Michael Walker was a jeweler before he was a knife maker.

I don’t think it will open on its own in your pocket, but if you left-pocket carry, I can certainly see it opening accidentally when you’re putting something _into _ your pocket.

I have a memory of someone using this at one of the Blade Show BaliComp events in the past couple years but I can’t find any video evidence of this. Maybe my knife-related Berenstain Bears moment here, who knows.

I start local and work my way out. Does your county have a website that shows campgrounds? How about adjacent counties? After that, I start looking at state recreation areas and parks. As I’m not too far from a state border, I look at the adjoining states as well.

In my area, most state parks that allow camping have separate areas for RV vs tent camping.

I have to believe that Terrain are marketing this knife to people who review and disassemble knives. 😎

I’m not looking to buy any of these but I think you might get more traction with others if you provided some more photos. Typically when selling used knives online, the more detail the better.

Well, Pete posted a new years update but more life than knife. Seems like he might be done with knife content for the most part. Ah well, this seems to be the way with a lot of hyper-specific hobby/enthusiast channels. Either they burn out or they develop new interests (imagine! 😂 ) and move the channel in a different direction.

Yes, most of the time it’s suggesting absolute garbage but every once in a while I get a great suggestion like this.

I hope Pete starts posting again. I miss his videos. He seems to go through a flurry of creative output and then crickets for weeks and weeks.
