I think all you’re missing is a coupler that will join those two GPON connectors together. They are like a couple of bucks at most. Why it’s open, or why it was pulled apart for a cheap connector, makes me think that an animal or some asshat decided you didn’t need internet anymore.
Someone should clean the ends of both of those connectors with a cleaning tool, and test them. If they were big jerks, they would have scratched them on the wall after removing the coupler.
