Sadly german planners post-war were influenced by the stupidity that was called Athens Charta. Many cities were built as “autogerechte Städte” with the car in mind first. Yes, pedestrians and cyclists were considered, but as an afterthought. Bike lanes and sidewalks were crammed together, they built tunnels under the roads to cross them without danger (you can imagine how safe those are considered, especially at night). By US american standard, that seems kind of okayish, but from from a present german perspective, the car-centric city was a big mistake, that is dismantled in many places, but sadly not everywhere.

The opposite was the case in Germany, sadly. Partly because of the destruction in WW2, the city planners in the late 50s went a bit nuts with their concept of the „autogerechte Stadt“, the car-centric city. Many cities still suffer from that period of planning madness, but it gets better. At least there, where conservative shits like the CDU aren’t ruling.

A small correction and „fun fact“: there is no year zero. 1 BC is followed by 1 AD. Consequently things like the turn of the millennium happen a year after we celebrate them. But people found that weird.

There are some scenarios, where biking can have negative effects on elderly people: Those cases where there is no explicit cycling infrastructure and foot and bike traffic is squeezed together. Or when elderly people are in need of a parking spot near to their homes and have no possibilities to park on their own property. But the real problem in those cases is bad planning.

Wenn sie feucht werden, muss man sie schnell wieder abtrocknen. Alles mit Säuren fürt dazu, dass das Messer anläuft. Es bildet sich eine schwarze Schicht und diese kann auch auf das säurehaltige Schnittgut abfärben. Gerade an der Klingenachse bildet sich gerne Mock, den man schlecht bis gar nicht weg bekommt.

Wenn man damit leben und umgehen kann, bekommt man ein wunderschönes Messer, das zwar (entgegen OPs Aussage) die Schärfe nicht ewig hält, sich aber mit einfachsten Mitteln wieder sauscharf schleifen lässt.

Wenn man damit nicht umgehen kann, bekommt man mit dem rostfreien Opinel immer noch ein sehr schönes, simples Messer mit einer dünn ausgeschliffenen 12C27 Klinge, die m.E. den Kohlenstoffstahl nur in Sachen Charme nachsteht.

*Habe mindestens vier davon. Statt meines hochpreisigen Messerblocks von Zwilling, ist mein go-to Kochmesser das 12er Carbon Opinel.

You are a bit too gatekeepy for my taste here. Buying animals as pets from breeders is fucked up, yes. Stuffing cats full of vegan food that slowly kills them is as bad as feeding dogs raw animal carcasses because some shithead on the internet told you that this is the “natural” way.

But adopting street animals from regions where they are regularly abused and/or killed and with that helping to finance organizations who orchestrate castration programs in those places is not really “burgeois” or a way to “keep them an emotional service slave”.
