  • Paternity leave saved my life when I was a young father with an ill wife. Take as much time as you can.

Also, side note, the year I took off of work to care for them when my sons were small (3 and 5) I look back on as one of the best decisions I ever made. Despite the fact we were flirting with homelessness, the bonding and memories made a huge impact on them, and now that they’re adults, we have an amazing relationship that far surpasses the distant bond I have with my own father.

  • I’ve worked with art dealers in my youth, and many artists through the years, including those who made it into museums both here and in the states.

You’re on that level, and if I were showing this in a gallery as part of your show, I’d likely try to price it at $10k as a unknown artist (provided your other work in the show was on this level), but my guess is that with a good agent you could be looking at far upwards of that for canvases of similar quality as your career progresses and your social media presence grows.

I bring up the agent again as every successful artist I know has representation. I would network with the other students in your class about who’s good in your local area. Your teacher probably has good connections as well.

You really do have a unique talent. If you’re looking for further inspiration, the one artist that I forgot to mention - check out Caravaggio’s work - your use of texture on the face is very similar to his, and I think you’d dig the story of his personal life - it’s a wild ride. He was essentially the Ozzy Osbourne of renaissance painters.

For instance, the severed head in his David and Goliath bears his face:

In fact, he loved painting his own beheading - it appears in several other works as well.

And I just gotta post the Incredulity of Saint Thomas because for whatever reason I just find this one hilarious:

  • Well done - you earned that A and then some.

You have incredible talent - this is like Banksy and Monet and early Van Gogh all rolled up into your own striking style. The texture on the face is really unique, and you’ve captured, through an excellent use of tonal contrast, the deeply violent, unhealthy and unsettling nature of your subject. The red against black is another fantastic choice - it brings forth the threat of the fascist undertones while showing it’s evolution into this horrible new world order… X.

This honestly should be hung in a museum. Get yourself an agent - I think you’ve got a great career ahead of you.

  • Then that’s 4,416 dozen, give or take a baker.

But all in all, I’d say that lemmings are much more active than Redditors - just based on responses to my posts and comments. I’ve earned 15k karma on this account, far more than any of my vastly older reddit accounts. Take that for what you will, but I’ve personally found the community here much more active, especially as of late.

Content quality is drastically better too.
