Housing shouldn’t be allocated based on how lucky you are to get a good landlord or not, people shouldn’t be at the mercy of landlords to enjoy decent housing. It should be a guaranteed right.

The landlord doesn’t provide a place to live, they paywall it. The construction of housing provides places to live, landlordism only leeches off the poor classes who can’t afford to buy housing.

Ukraine from 2014 to 2022 was shelling eastern Ukraine (majority Russian ethnic territories) without any Russian invasion because two regions declared independence. This is the part where Russia is claiming ethnic cleansing and it uses as casus belli. I don’t believe the genocide accusations because not everything bad is a genocide. Well, the Soviets are known for holding extremely accurate of such repressions within the USSR, the soviet archive on the Great Terror is universally recognized as the best source of information on the Great Terror itself, and those events are simultaneous. Even regarding the repression of some anarchists in Barcelona, the Soviets conserved the intelligence provided the spy Harro Schulze-Boysen of a Nazi plot to promote an anarchist insurrection in Barcelona during the war. I can understand it’s not easy to give exact figures, but at least there must be estimates that can give information on the order of magnitude. Regardless, thanks for your time and good faith.

As for why anecdotal evidence is insufficient to me: my great-grandad was actually murdered by the Spanish reds (not the communists). If anecdotal evidence was sufficient to me, I’d draw equivalencies between “both sides of the war being the same” because they both unfairly executed people. Referring to anecdotal evidence of nuns being sexually assaulted by the republicans and of innocent men being executed during the war is what the right wing does to equate both sides of the conflict, and what distinguishes one side from the other to me is not anecdotal evidence of war crimes, but actual numerical estimates and the goal of such repressions. The reds repressed to prevent fascism from spreading, the fascists repressed because they wanted to exterminate socialism and anarchism.

Edit: to clarify, I don’t believe Russia has less of an intent on controlling European politics than the USA does, it’s just that the USA has a lot more power, money and relations with Europe, so it naturally has a lot more ways to influence our policy. As an example, Europe will (righfully) be very angry at Russia when it starts a war with Ukraine, but will join the USA in a war in Iraq.

As a Spaniard (country which joined the European Community rather late), I can definitely confirm that it was pretty much explicit that joining NATO was a prerequisite to be accepted in the EU. The EU was born out of the Marshall Plan and of NATO.

Bolsheviks, per modern historical analysis, killed a total of less than 20 anarchists in the entire Spanish Civil War, and at least some of those because a spy in Nazi Germany called Harro Schulze-Boysen confirmed a Nazi plot to generate an anarchist insurrection in Barcelona to weaken the Republic’s defenses. You tell me to read a book: well, point me towards a historiographical analysis of the Spanish Civil War pointing out NUMERICALLY HOW MANY anarchists were actually repressed by the communists.
