So glad that some people on Lemmy get this
Just a guy. Literally. What more can I say?

So glad that some people on Lemmy get this

Very true

‘Charlie Kirk’ is an insult. I can’t believe you shot that insult at me.
*sick
Obviously I can’t say for sure, but even that somehow sounds as if it’d taste different to these crap discs
You meet again…
Actually, I always remember the necklaces/bracelets as more like the love heart sweets (I actually quite like them). Plz don’t say they make a PV version too, that’s just wrong
I agree. I think you’ve got what I was trying to say there as best as I could explain it.
Consider this: So 100’s of years ago, before parliament, when Kings ruled under the divine right and there was no politics as they are today (no elected government, no electorates splitting the vote, in fact no voting in the first place), did people not care about these issues?
You’re correct that these issues are, in our modern world politicised (or have become so, rather), but they aren’t fundamentally a political issue. That’s why I don’t look at them through the lens of politics when I answer that question. My point is, its not impossible to separate the issue from the politics
Good call
I don’t. I think they’re shit.

I know. Poor people…

Have you had Parma violets? They are hard, brittle sweets that taste like perfume. Also, in the UK, smarties are something else entirely
Yep. Pretty much.

I think that’s a pretty fair assessment of the situation. And believe me: even people of my generation (not too many, but a few) share your opinion on that particular show, so you’re good there. I myself aren’t a particularly big fan of SpongeBob, just using it as an example of what was popular at the time.

even with a film release this years
Oh ffs, they’re still making this crap??? Spare me now!

Yeah I get your point bro, I wasn’t having a go lol. I do get that that’s pretty much how cartoons were then, but my other point is: when I was young in the 2000’s, loads of people who were 80’s kids said what we watched was a load of crap (e.g. fairly odd parents, power rangers, SpongeBob) but if you ask me, loads of these shows had character too. Yeah, they made toys sure, but that wasn’t the main purpose of what these guys making these shows was; they wanted to tell stories and actually entertain kids. And I look at the crap they made in the 80’s all for making toys and shit, and I think: you called out stuff crap when this is what you watched? Pfft. Bullshit.
And I’m not saying every 80’s cartoon was like that (I’m sure there were 80’s cartoons that did try to be different). But it seems like all the popular/well known ones were primarily a money making scheme rather than a story telling event. Thats just my take, others may disagree and have perfectly legitimate reasons to.
I just googled this and I’m fairly sure it’s not the shop on there
Whilst I now get the reference, I’m not right-wing. Just to make that clear.
