I’m reliant on the state for defence on a larger scale, but in our personal lives, the state can do little to defend us from other individuals in a timely manner. That is why I believe everyone that is able to should be responsible for their own personal defence.
I’ve no desire to injerect in others lives, but I do have a desire to protect myself and my family where the state cannot or will not.
A disarmed society is not a free society, its completely reliant on the state for personal defence, when that responsibility should rest with the individual.
Everyone comfortable with and able to be responsible for their own protection should take that responsibility. We should not be forced to rely on police who consistently prove they dont give a shit about us.

I’ve lived in a range of population centers, from mid sized towns of about 30k, to cities in the millions, and now in a small town of 5k spread through the entire valley. Its different strokes for different folks. The city was nice with lots of things to keep me occupied, but I could barley afford to do anything because my tiny apt cost 2.5k a month. Cities would be great if the CoL was addressed. Smaller towns on the other hand offer me plent of unspoiled nature to explore and a tighter knit sense of community while allowing me to live comfortably.
Each has its benefits and generalizing one side or the other doesn’t do it justice.
I moved to VA and took basically the same job. I technically make less that I did in CA, but here I can actually own a home and save. California needs to do something about their CoL crisis.
I lived there and made $90k a year. Lived like 50 minutes from work, still paid $2.5k per month for a 500sqft studio and qualified as low income for the area. If people making that much are considered low income, something has failed.
