  • Thank you for your comment, I was confused what people are complaining about (you’ve had to pay for carry on items since ~2008, which have always been different than a “personal item” which is like a backpack or tote bag that you can bring for free if you store under the seat in front of you). It sounded like people weren’t understanding what a personal item was vs a carry on. But if they are arbitrarily saying wheels, regardless of size, also determine personal item vs carryon, I can see the frustration.

But otherwise their policy has been like this for a super long time - pay for carry on, and if you pay at the gate they charge extra. Almost 20 years now.

That being said I hold a grudge against all airlines for charging you a fee to pick your seat. They used to let you just pick it as a perk for booking online. Now they even have to nickel and dime our fucking loved one’s emotional support while we pray that the plane doesn’t fucking fall apart and while we breathe in the germs of some stranger next to us. Airlines are assholes.

Eta: airline fun fact - the CIA used to own an airline (this is verified by the CIA’s website itself)

  • You don’t think the people who make the generative algorithm have a duty to what it generates?

And whatever you think anyway, the company itself shows that it feels obligated about what the AI puts out, because they are constantly trying to stop the AI from giving out bomb instructions and hate speech and illegal sexual content.

The standard is not and was never if they were “entirely” at fault here. It’s whether they have any responsibility towards this (and we all here can see that they do indeed have some), and how much financially that’s worth in damages. That’s the point of this suit. The case isn’t about whether AI itself should be outlawed for minors etc, it’s not the parents who are on trial either.

There’s no world in which I can see AI being given a pass for sexting with a minor because then that allows pedophiles who work for AI companies to be predators and either look at those conversations or even locate vulnerable youth. No company should be given legal protection to harm children.

  • Well, we commonly hold the view, as a society, that children cannot consent to sex, especially with an adult. Part of that is because the adult has so much more life experience and less attachment to the relationship. In this case, the app engaged in sexual chatting with a minor (I’m actually extremely curious how that’s not soliciting a minor or some indecency charge since it was content created by the AI fornthar specific user). The AI absolutely “understands” manipulation more than most adults let alone a 14 year old boy, and also has no concept of attachment. It seemed pretty clear he was a minor in his conversations to the app. This is definitely an issue.

  • Miscarriages are serious though. Abortions are a serious procedure. Imo women should be able to take a week off work if they have a miscarriage or get an abortion for any reason.

Yes, I absolutely think it’s laughable that these drugs along with birth control require a prescription. I’m not sure if you’re a woman, but I will say that doctors NEVER check contraindications with these drugs. Eg no one with migraines should take estrogen-based birth control, yet they never check this. So why even require I GO to a doctor for this, when the doctor can’t even be bothered to read the product insert like I do. Genuinely pointless to have to go to them. And genuinely MOST early abortion drugs fall into this category as well.

Yes, our healthcare system is an absolute abomination and a national embarassment. That’s why women feel unsafe- not because they are getting lifesaving access to abortions.

I knew a catholic family, like ultra catholic, who got an abortion approved by the church. It’s funny, church-sanctioned murder, right? From their PoV? The fetus had not developed any kidneys - this was a later term abortion, even. But if the baby was born, it would 100% die an agonizing death as it was slowly poisoned by its lack of kidneys over a day. Who wants to watch God torture a baby to death? No one. So the church approved it. What fucking cowards, what assholes. These people are the same ones who’d get ride of abortion access, yet here they are using it because when it’s THEM who has to witness agonizing horrors, suddenly it’s a valid medical procedure again.
